Terry Gross excerpts interviews she did with Charlie over the years starting with first one she did in 1983. Interesting that she is one of the main reasons he went back to singing after she asked him to on her show. Very moving and by the end where she plays his version of him singing Wayfaring Stranger I was choking back the tears.

Just found this at Metheny's site. Here's a podcast of some beautiful reminiscences from Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette, and Charlie Haden on the recording of 80/81. I always thought that it was Pat vocalizing his enthusiasm for DeJohnette at the end of the Turnaround track, but turns out that was Charlie Haden. http://www.patmetheny.com/news/full_display.cfm?id=81

Damn, it just occurred to me that all the members of Old and New Dreams are gone now. And that Ornette himself is the only one remaining from the Ornette Coleman Double Quartet that performed on his 1960 "Free Jazz" LP.
