Nikola Tesla was born July 10, 1856. Many consider him the greatest inventor of all time. He is perhaps most famous for developing the electrical system of alternating current we have today.

We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973
I attended a memorial lecture some years ago, probably in 2006 which would have been his 150th birthday. He seems to have been an enigmatic character, very much someone happier in his own company than in other people's.
Edison used to electrocute stray dogs in public to demonstrate how dangerous AC was. He even electrocuted an elephant, almost unsuccessfully and with great suffering.
Well, AC is still dangerous but very few people get electrocuted by accident every year. Meanwhile, people who torture and kill pets are called psychopaths.
His cars sure are pricey.
Ouch. I could charge you with battery for that.
