Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

    Brad Paisley

    Yngwie Maalmsteen
    Slash
    EVH
    Edge
    Johnny Marr
    Andy Summers
    Vai

no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone

Well, I see the point you're making, and I would agree with most of what you're suggesting, but wouldn't you agree that most of Belew's legacy was built post-70's? Other than his work with David Bowie, what did he do in the 70's that was notable? OK, he was Zappa's rhythm guitarist (and did that Bob Dylan impression on Flakes), but he didn't really get do "his thing" until The Sovereign tapped him for the Heroes tour.

Right, that tour was in the '70s.

But most of his work was done after the 70's, eg King Crimson, solo albums, session work with the likes of Tom Tom Club, Laurie Anderson, etc.

It's all good, man. He's more of the '80s than the '70s. I'm just saying that he started to make a name for himself in the '70s.
