We're heading out to Universal Studios for three days and Clearwater Beach for four.
Any visiting tips would be appreciated.

"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
Can't help you, Ron. I'm too ignorant. I know nothing at all about Clearwater Beach, and I had to look up Universal Studios to learn they had locations outside Hollywood (the one I visited decades ago). But do have fun. That's what vacations are for, if I remember correctly. It's likely I could offer tips, should you ever visit the left coast.
We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973
YEah, we're thinking that we're probably the only ones who thought of going to Universal Studios during summer break. I expect short lines and plenty of available tables t the restaurants.
Thanks, Alan. I've never been west of the Mississippi, actually. Closest I ever came was Vicksburg.

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
If you get that big Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, it has a section on Universal Studios with strategies for avoiding long waits, etc. Maybe there are books on Universal too - I'm sure there's plenty of such info online too. Forums, blogs, etc.
If you're into acoustic guitars and ukuleles, you should visit Augustino LoPrinzi Guitars in Clearwater.

Ooh, my wife loves his work. We had a big show here several years ago at the local conservatory. I got some pretty cools pics of it. Not sure if the kids would be interested. But, if we have a rainy day, it could be that or the Dali museum.

Big Chihuly fan here ! The show toured thru here years ago too. Loved the boat !! (got busted for using flash w/camera!)
I think this is his only 'permanent' display in the USA.
Re: Dali - haven't been to the new museum, (old one was fantastic !) REALLY suppose to be great !
Enjoy your trip !!!
Just got back last night and had a great time. Won't go into details. Maybe I'll post a few pics.
Re: Universal, very crowded due to HP, where the new section had just opened a week earlier. There's one coaster on which we would have had to wait only two hours, but chose not to waste the time. We heard waits of up to eight hours for that one, which is insane.
Most ride waits throughout the parks were pretty reasonable. But, in all honesty, you only need two days for Universal. Disney, on the other hand, has five parks and, when we went two years ago, we used a whole week and skipped the water park, and still missed some things.
My youngest was all crying because she didn't get slimed at the Nickelodeon Resort we stayed at in Orlando, due to weather. "But, daddy, you don't understand. I've been waiting all my life."
Clearwater is gorgeous. We had one rainy day (out of four), but didn't really hit the museums. Man, is the Gulf nice and warm.

Clearwater Pier ! I hope you got to walk around there, always an interesting crowd at nite !!
I have only been to Clearwater in the February / March timeframe and never seen it that empty. In fact it has always been crawling with people. Looks like a cool time to visit.
