Y'all are pikers. I have every Magma LP, as well as CD, and even a few cassette tapes. I also have over 200 live recordings, most on cassette tape but a bunch on CD, including the Chicago show I saw in 1999. I have all the DVD sets. I have a box of reprinted articles going back to the early 70s. I have autographed copies of some CDs, and a photo that Herve Aknin sent me of me at one of the later Chicago concerts. I have hundreds of photographs. This is one of my faves.

they just put up on bandcamp a remastered version of the BBC (1974) performance. I have the original cd, is it worth popping for the remastered version for vinyl? Is the sound noticeably better?

    thanks in advance

It does sound better, but I am not sure I would get it, for reasons just above. I already have it.

They should change the name to Two Shots, or Make Mine A Double.

I think they are having Jim Grandcamp play guitar, right?

Jim Grandcamp only sat in for the encore on the recent gig, so I assume he's not part of the band.

Whoever it is that plays guitar will have one giant pair of shoes to fill. James will always be sadly missed.

Or perhaps they will go on as a power trio of keyboards / bass / drums...that would be an interesting option.

Possibly as a quartet in a double keyboard formation. It worked out really well in that first One Shot reunion gig.

Yes, that seems to be the plan. It needs to be a four-piece. And it's their performance in that configuration that they felt worked so well that they want to continue. I couldn't be happier.

They had some new material ready (mostly by Philippe) that they played in 2012-13. When I began interviewing all band members in June 2015 for the collected works box that came out in early 2016, the plan was that they would have a residency at Le Triton that September to finalise and record a new studio album. When I met with Daniel for the first interview, he broke the news that James had a sudden serious health issue. He'd only just heard about it and hadn't yet factored in that it probably meant the project would have to be at least postponed. It's so sad, quite apart from everything else, that they were so close to making another album when this happened. Bubu used some of the material in another form with WelcomeX, but it would be great to hear it as originally intended along with new music by Manu Borghi in particular.

Is it a single LP, or a double? Because each of those pieces was over 25 minutes long, so if they're squeezing each one onto a single side of vinyl, I doubt very seriously that it's gonna sound better than the CD.

To my shame I wasn't even aware of this previous reunion concert. I certainly hope they can get it together for a new album showcasing the dual-keyboard attack, which would be autobuy for me.

It's available to watch (VOD) for a couple of euros/dollars I believe. I'm a subscriber to the site so I'm not sure what the price is, but worth every penny! I've already watched it twice.

Thanks for the tip Aymeric. I will give this a try. Whenever I've tried to buy anything from Le Triton's web site in the past I could never get it to work, but it's been quite a while and I may have better luck this time.
