Also ordered- thanks!
I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.
After four listens I feel that Kãrtëhl is kind of lightweight album. Always pleasant but hardly ever really engaging.

I saw a brief comment from Stella- and I cannot remember where, but perhaps on their Instragram feed- that this record grew out of the lock-down from Covid, represented a lightening of their spirits and also reflected contributions from other members.

This is pretty damn cool:
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
Nice.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.

I just got the CD. I like it a great deal. But if I were to describe it, I would say that (1) I am hearing a lot of themes from the band's lesser-known compositions circa late 1970s-1980s. Sort of from the Attahk, Merci era of music. It is very much upbeat, sounds very positive, if you will. Much of this is not as dark as normal Magma, though some of it is, a bit. And then hearing earlier versions of songs, with Stundehr, and the newer versions of those same songs, is a bit of a revelation. Production is pretty good, but the bass remains buried in the mix to me. Vocalisms are superb- what a huge mass of voice some of these songs have. So, a great new disc, but also, to me, a bit of a holding pattern as this latest version of the band gets is sea-legs on. Some live shows coming up, so will see how these evolve.

Great ! Apparently just one day before they showed up in Silkeborg in Denmark - long journey !
- and Guy Delacroix is a bit overlooked/underestimated (imo)

After spending a few weeks with this album, I like it quite a lot. It's some of the most upbeat, uplifting sounding music Magma has put out since Felicite Thosz (one of my absolute faves). The track "Dehnde" is one I keep coming back to over and over. I think it's great!
Will it knock Wurdah Itah or MDK from the top spot for me? Not likely. But it's a lovely record and I'm grateful to have it.

New album finally showed up. I'm really enjoying it a lot. I hear echoes of a lot of Magma stuff in here but it actually kind of reminds me a lot of Setna, a band I discovered through this message board. the music is really pleasant and I think the production is maybe the best we've ever heard on a Magma studio album. I wish they'd been recording Vander's drums this way from the start. My only complaint is that it's a 2xLP even though the album itself is only 40 minutes long. It's cool to hear the demos from 1978 to see where a couple of these compositions came from but they're not exactly well recorded demos. They sound like they're being played over the phone. Oh well. Hard to complain cuz I like the music so much. Letting other members write for the band was a pretty good decision. I hope they do more!!!
