I'm guessing Mr Davis is going to enjoy that!

mmmmm, very very tempted, though it will be the fourth or fifth time that I need to fly to the UK this year...
Incidentally The Garage is where I first saw Kavus Torabi, then the prodigy guitar player for the Cardiacs!

What a great double bill! It would be a long shot in the extreme, but there has been talk around my house of an excursion to the British Isles next year, so...

Magma - BBC Radio Londres 1974
Is this different from the Londres that is already available?

^^^ Just different packaging (in a digipack) I think, and remastered in 2020.

New tattoo for Isabelle. New singer, too with Lora. New music, some of which sounds pretty darned cool and will sound better when fleshed out. Also, sounds like a new version of Titilbon there. Highly intrigued.

Good interview! And for those with a rusty french (like myself) use http://itools.com/tool/google-transl...age-translator

That was a good interview and thanks for the translation link:

" In the fall of 2019, Magma underwent a fairly significant overhaul of its training with the arrival of Thierry Eliez, Jimmy Top and Simon Goubert, as well as the perpetuation of a fairly large choir with six voices, not to mention that of Thierry Eliez who seems to sing often. Without going over the conditions under which the previous musicians left the group, we sensed a need for change. What, from your point of view, drives this new version of Magma?

In fact, we had really gone around the previous group. We weren't having fun anymore, we were bored and we weren't the only ones bored. It is for this reason that we separated from Philippe Bussonnet. It's true that it was a shock for him, but I think it was beneficial and then he wanted to carry out his projects. And as far as I'm concerned, I had had enough of the sound of the vibraphone for a while now, especially since the music had become incidental for Benoît Alziary. As for the other pianist, Christian had never really hooked, he didn't have a jazz background. Humanly, it was not going well. So there you have it, we had to kick the anthill and it was done."

And Stella notes a new vocalist: "Especially since we have a new recruit, Caroline Szymkowiak, which is really great. She integrated very quickly, she stuck me! In two weeks, she learned everything I asked her to learn. Very pretty voice, large range, good musician."

3 new Magma compositions coming, 2 by Vander and one from Thierry. Interesting comments on the band becoming boring- which, oddly enough, I kind of agree. I had seen some clips where it seems that the energy was missing, people were not connecting. I think with Benoit, he teaches music theory and that might be taking more of his time, along with his photography and parachuting. Hard on the keyboardist- and I wonder what led Sandrine Destefanis to leave- other commitments, or what? But I do miss Bubu, a lot. Jimmy Top has not grown on me and his tone so far is thin. Time will tell but excited to see forward movement.

Looking forward to new Magma. I can't think of any group I bought so much stuff from in less than a year. From zero albums to, I think 22.

Embedded in that interview is one of the greatest Kohntarkosz guitar solos I've ever heard James play. I had never seen this one before. It is amazing! What energy!

I was at the James tribute event (documentary screening + One Shot concert), and also attended some of the rehearsals.

Was loud as hell and plainly amazing, despite a couple of mistakes that were masterfully managed in real time by the band, a sign of how badass they are.

Jim Grandcamp guested on Ewaz Vader and Monsieur G (the encore).
