I prefer my jazz extra crunchy.

Smooth jazz and "soft rock" both exist for exactly the same reason: so that people who grew up thinking they'd never turn into their parents don't have to admit that they have in fact turned into their parents..."Hey, it's still rock music, even if it is a bit mellow". No, it's not, dope.
