AAJ Review: Eivind Aarset, Dream Logic
My review of Eivind Aarset's debut as a leader on the ECM label, Dream Logic, today at All About Jazz.
The Norwegian guitarist has, of course, a string of exceptional albums on Jazzland, but for this ECM debut (he's recorded as a guest on many record for the label, for artists including Arild Andersen, Andy Sheppard, Jon Hassell) he's done something very different - largely a solo guitar record, but with the occasional sonic help from live sampler/co-producer Jan Bang. But, of course, a solo guitar record from Aarset ain't your typical solo record; unique sound worlds are uncovered as he layers a variety of textures to create an album of dark beauty that stands alone in Aarset's discography, yet couldn't have been made by anyone but Aarset.
Review here.

I got this about two weeks ago, and it really is a lovely record.

John, thanks for the review. I will be picking this up in the near future.
Eivind has been my favorite guitarist for the last few years.
Discovered him on dime. Some from the recent tour supporting "Dream Logic".
Here's a couple of videos from a recent performance with Jan Bang.
