new Mutemath album "Play Dead" is really bloody good. The last 2 tracks are fantastic, but also super melancholy.

whole thing is streaming now https://mutemath.lnk.to/playdead

This one just arrived. First impression: funky jazzrock, with a couple of more subtle tracks in which keyboarder Linda Angel can be heard.

I admit to being confused and memory-compromised regarding new and upcoming Nordic releases. I feel like Jacob Holm Lupo and Mattias Olsen are involved in so many projects I can't keep up.

For example, one of them (I think) posted something a few months back that was a sampler of something they were involved in, that had a distinct Canterbury sound. It sounded really good, so -- anyone remember what that was? I really meant to look out for it.

That was Galasphere 347, a project with Ketil Einarsen, Stephen James Bennett, Mattias and myself. Mixing it as we speak, out sometime this winter.

loved their last album "Get to Heaven" quite a lot.
Just bought it today. The band has a sound of its own from the first CD on. This one seems less over the top without loosing those high vocals.

Jordsjo has a new album, "Jord", and it is quite good. They have a retro sound reminiscent of Hybris era Anglagard with flute and mellotron featured prominently. The album is short, only 37 minutes, but is really worth a few listens.

They just signed to Karisma Records (the label Wobbler are on). So we might get some longer CD release.

    THANK YOU!!!
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

about the MSM Schmidt above...I should have mentioned this. among the many guests on this album are Dave Weckl, Mike Miller, Scott Kinsey, Jimmy Haslip, Virgil Donati, Oz Noy and more. most notable though being Allan Holdsworth is on at least two tracks (Trance and Vista)

Sorry about that, moe. That seemed to happen to a lot of people, unfortunately. I thought the whole bandcamp preview thing was a great idea at first, but their site seems to be very picky about who it lets in, for some reason. PM me, and I can try to send them to you in a more direct way, if you want!
