I was thinking the exact same thing!

Listened to most of this yesterday, and hit repeat on several tracks quite a few times. Really enjoying this one.

Doing some blog cleanup and have discovered some news items I think will be of interest here:

Tusmørke's 4th album is set to be released on May 12. Working title is Hinsides, which Google tells me means "Beyond". Cool.

Agusa is working on their 3rd studio album likely to be released in 2017.

And there was even a hint dropped for a new Phlox (Estonia) album. Yee-haw!

Oh, and just a metal diversion. Avatarium's new album will be titled Hurricanes and Halos and set to be released May 26th. My overview of the band is: "Essentially, Avatarium are Candlemass with an organist and a female vocalist who sings as if its 1970. A potentially awesome combination, though there's no mistaking this is still doom metal."

Hopefully more news to come here, as I clean up....

Absolutely! And I did buy it anyway.

    Love that tune too.

Both the Agusa and Phlox news are quite welcomed by me.

JPL never stops to amaze me... seriously good

I was getting serious Canterbury vibes from that first Thundercat track. And yes, the vocals are very George Duke! The second one is so very Steely Dan!

After Iona who seem to be history we will get a live CD/DVD by Dave Bainbridge's Celestial Fire soon.

The band features Sally Minnear on Vocals (Kerry's daughter).

Guitarist Shane Parish(Aleuchatistas etc) has a download album out, Few More Days-Live at The Mothlight; a duo session with drummer Michael Libramento. The music is high octane live guitar/drums fireworks that compares with the best duos i've heard, namely,Bob Bell/Ian Hood;Nels Cline/Gregg Bendian,Shane Parish(Perlowin)/Tatsuya Nakatani, perhaps a very few others.

It's available on Bandcamp and it's the real deal.Link provided.

I would like to hear more collaborations like this...from anyone! I wonder if they'll do some shows after Haken is through touring. I don't think Briggs is working on anything with BTBAM or Trioscapes.

Al Joseph's new one All Of Creation is pretty sweet (beware of some tasty shredding). a band would be nice too

Semente, an obscure Brazilian band, had released one very good album in 1999. Now, 18 years later, they have released their second. I haven't heard any of it, but looking forward to it.

Maybe I'm missing something in the subtleties, but the shredding style of guitar playing all sounds the same to me. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between one guitarist and another.

As with Elephant 9, Grand General and Hedvig Mollestad, Krokofant are relatively prolific performers as well, playing lots of festivals etc. Their debut album is still their best release by far, I think.

Nick Prol and The Proletarian's new album was quietly released today, albeit digitally only for the moment (physical coming VERY soon). This is a crazy fun album with a lot of 'prog heroes' guesting and filling out Nick's backing band.

    The Proletarians are:

Nick Prol - Vocals, Guitar, Misc. Cacophonous Calamity
Ben Spees - Bass, Misc. Aural Alchemy
    Connor Reilly - Drums
    Dave Newhouse - Woodwinds

Guest Players (in order of appearance):
Guest performers include Evyenia Karapolous, Charlie Cawood (Knifeworld), Moe Staiano (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Surplus 1980), Nathan James (Colouratura), Dave Willey (Hamster Theater, Thinking Plague), Paul Sears (The Muffins), Bob Drake, Mohadev Dev (Stop Motion Orchestra), Thymme Jones (Cheer Accident), Oliver Grant Campbell (Mercury Tree), Michael Dawson, Carla Diratz, Matt Lebofsky (miRthkon, Secret Chiefs 3), Dominique D'Avanzo, Emanuele Sterbini, Gavin Wallace-Ailsworth (Bent Knee), Anthony Garone, Rob Crow, and R Stevie Moore
