Veridian Mast, based in St. Pete, FL. Just posted this on their Facebook page. You can sample some of their music on their Soundcloud page https://soundcloud.com/viridianmast-1

"So as most of you may know by now, we have been sitting on our debut record. But the current challenge is funding for it. We all mutually agreed on recording this at Clear Track Studios in Clearwater with Spencer Bradham after our fantastic experience tracking our debut single there. We've exhausted every option we have but as highschool and college students our only choice is to take our chances with a crowd funding campaign. We are editing our indiegogo pitch video as I type this and will have more on it very very soon. Until then, please spread this around with everyone you know and help us because we can't create this without you all!"

The prolific and talented Antony Kalugin has a new album out for his Sunchild project- "Synesthesia". In spite of the political unrest in the Ukraine, Antony continues to get it done. Samples are on Bandcamp:

He has my utmost respect for managing to still produce his music in spite of his country’s political situation. I’ve loved the Karfagen albums I’ve heard. May he continue making music!

They were streaming the whole album one day only from their mailing list. I made it about halfway through. Those guys are incredible musicians, but I can't get onboard with the tunes. I appreciate that they attempt to interject humor into their music, but for me, it's more silly than actually funny. I saw them live once and I'd do it again because they were pretty amazing to see, but I don't think I want to buy their albums anymore. YMMV

I'm the same, seen them live twice and they were great both times, I get a lot less from the albums

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

I was chatting with Nils at the merch table at the Fauns Fables gig last night and he said they've nearly finished the next FF album and they close on the debut Free Salamander album.

Lo-Fi Resistance-L'Olympia is available now for streaming and purchase on Bandcamp. http://www.lofiresistance.bandcamp.com

Captured live in Montreal on Saturday, April 25th, 2015, L'Olympia documents Lo-Fi Resistance playing their second gig ever as a duo; an opening set for the classic progressive rock band, Marillion. Presenting the material in this raw and experimental state, L'Olympia opens new possibilities for Lo-Fi Resistance.

Kinetic Element's new CD Travelog was released on June 1 on Melodic Revolution Records. Fans of classic symphonic prog will find much to like here, we think. :-)
You may hear it in its entirety at www.cdbaby.com/cd/kineticelement2 or http://melodicrevolutionrecords.com/album/travelog.
Mike Visaggio (keys) Todd Russell (guitar) Mark Tupko (bass) Michael Murray (drums). Guest vocalists Dimetrius LaFavors (Odin's Court), Michelle Schrotz (Brave) and Mike Florio (MassDream project). Recently got a full album and interview show on House of Prog with Marty Dorfman, and two good shows at Orion Studios and New Jersey Proghouse. So far ratings 3.7 stars overall for all known ratings, none lower than three, most 3.5, some 4, a few 5. Have a listen.

Both remind me of a cross between ELP and Niacin. The first one seemed a little more aggressive and Yabori's playing had more of an edge to it. The recording also seemed to be a little louder on the first disc.

I feel the same way about Morglbl. They weren't even the best choice at the time for Nearfest, they just happened to be on the right label.

Judging by the first track in streaming...honestly this doesn't sound too far removed from something Jack White would do...which is a bad thing, to me.

I better go off and check some Jack Black if he's doing stuff as good as this.

I'm afraid I might be with Haruspex, on this one. I listened to the whole thing on Bandcamp, and very little grabbed me.Suprising, since I like a lot of stuff that you like, Ian. Some odd cool bits here and there, but I'm having difficulty finding anything melodic, or engrossing to latch on to. Perhaps another chance, in another frame of mind.

Some thoughts on the new Echolyn ...

It's rockier than the last one. Generally less reflective, more expressive, but that's not to say their aren't a couple of more reflective tracks here.

As always, great songwriting. Haven't had a chance to really analyze the lyrics, but a few lines here and there left me flattened on first exposure.

This one is more experimental in terms of arrangement and sounds. A couple of tracks reflect their prog roots, but it's channeled through their modern voice. Over time, Echolyn have developed one of the more unique and recognizable sounds of any 'prog' bands working today and keep their references to the past minimal. The 'proggy' elements are there to enhance the narrative - this is not prog for the sake of prog.

Great work, very much worth the wait. It needs more plays to sink in, but I can see this becoming one of the more important releases of the year!

To reaffirm, yep; i went through all of it too, aside from a few guitar bits and some here and there jangly tempo shifts...probably won't be revisited...

...how? Isn't it released in a few weeks? Sounds good though! The thing with them is that what so many don't seem to understand, and what the band members themselves have stated, is that these guys write for the song...AND they're good at it.

Cool! Anything along the lines of The Cardinal and I?..they sure went out on I think one of the best songs they've ever written last time.
