Stingray Fever is a Psychedelic rock quartette from London, England. Musically, Stingray Fever stay within the genre framework so you can easily compare them with the late 60's / early 70's bands: organ sounds with a lot of 'psychedelic' electric guitar, insane vocals and often flute playing. Everything rhymes perfectly and as the final result you hear a slightly proggy psych-rock that rumbles out of the speakers. Their new "Elevator to the Moon" 6-track EP is available as a cassette album as well.

A very percussive, lively, repetitive, drifting world-music can be heard on the album by Les Filles de Illighadad from Abalak, Niger. Masterfully recorded and professionally produced, this music babbles and rushes along entire LP. Indeed, "At Pioneer Works" is a world-music record, but which featuring a beautiful trippy and meditative atmosphere that should be noteworthy for Krautrock lovers. On "At Pioneer Works", the percussions waft tightly intertwined, clatter and jingle in between the psychedelic guitar and female vocals, and the whole thing seems very relaxed, but at the same time quite exciting, well concentrated and compact stuff.

    LIFE ARTIST

Finally, the self-recorded album "Lifelines" was completed in Juny 2021. The mastering was carried out by Matt Korr in the Red Roof Studio Loftsound in July 2021 and finally an official release date was found: The second Life Artist album "Lifelines" will be available for purchase on August 27, 2021 via Ragnarök Records. In addition, the band already announced a vinyl edition to be released at the end of 2021.

A first Video is out on YT:

This album is in the vein of 'Mundo Flotante' and 'Terra Quemeda'. Playing it now for the first time and I already find a lot to enjoy.

Yeah, I wanted the vinyl too. Maybe one of the prog vendors will stock it here?

I don't usually gravitate towards solo albums (even though there is an array of guests), but this is really good stuff! Thanks for posting.

Ian Todd is a multi-instrumentalist from Coventry, England. "Seven Signs of a Soul" is his third, concept album that is stylistically on the more experimental side of Art Rock, on which the artist creates an almost hypnotic atmosphere with more or less monotonous drumming and singing parts that have a dreamy-light vibe. All vocals, guitar, keys and drums are by Ian Todd. The sax is played by Kirk Hastings, while the double-bass is played by John Parker.
This album has seven songs, and each song is dedicated to one of the signs of life: movement, respiration, sensitivity, growth, reproduction, excretion & nutrition. The songs then scrabble about deeper into other inward-looking subject matter: stoicism, mental health, and anti-consumerism.
As this album progresses, it gets more moving, the guitar stands out more. Some songs are initially more relaxed and ambient rock-like, then Hastings kicks in with his jazzy sax, the music picks up the pace, and finally some fragments of singing can be heard again. Todd's music develops from an initially hardly varied sound-surface with singing sequences to the typical guitar playing that can be heard in the background.
Seven Signs of a Soul the album is produced by Ian Todd and mastered by Tom Gittins of Monochrome Productions. All things considered, an interesting and certainly nice Art Rock album.

This ain't prog, but lovely pastoral music that I think some here would get a kick out of:

CD and vinyl coming shortly. The vibe here reminds me of another British obscurity, the album Our Worn Shadow by Manyfingers, but sunnier.

^ Glad ya dug it Walt.

Here's something way different, heavy and freaky instrumental psych from Brazil. They specialise in three minute trips, but they can travel in three minutes:

Free to download, but worth paying for. The main thing with these guys is that they groove like hell.

This German band with a slight Canterbury influence was brought into being in 2005 by Thomas Klarmann from Mainz, who initially played all the instruments himself. Robert Gozon and Klarmann met each other at mutual friends' parties, and then deepened their musical inclinations together. Later they met Ulf Jacobs, a drummer who composes the music and is a prog-head. This collaboration resulted in Argos' debut album which was released on the French label Musea Records in 2008.
Just released "The Other Life" is their fifth album. With its previous albums, Argos set the bar very high, but the new album masters this challenge with flying colours. Argos presents us with pleasantly clichéd and unkitschy Progressive rock. Soft synth pads and elegant keyboard runs meet whirring and shimmering guitar parts over a filigree, but quite varied network of rhythms. The dream-like 'symphonic' elements and sometimes weird sounds are cleverly woven in. The basic sound of Argos hasn't changed much since the previous album, but with their delightful style, this band still sounds "English" as hardly any other non-English band.
On "The Other Life", very elegant, well thought-out, finely arranged, soulful songs with a slightly haunting character unfold. The whole thing is enriched with a hint of jazz-rock in the tradition of 'Canterbury' bands.
Bernd Webler had been again in charge of the wonderful artwork that is just perfect for the music on this exciting album. The additional musicians did a nice job too.
Are there any sensational innovations in Argos' music? No - but I really enjoy their music and never get bored!

New Between the Buried and Me (BTBAM) album "Colors II" out today. I know a lot of folks don't enjoy the growl-y harsh vocals, but this album is a "sequel" to their acclaimed album Colors. I quite enjoy it so far, but their music is incredibly frenetic and there's a whole lot going on, so it takes quite a while for their albums to really click.

Liked the Argos album. Will have to listen a few more times to really get into the meat of the songs, but on first listen it was very enjoyable.

Very lovely stuff - right up my alley, too (as was the new Angel Ontalva posted by thedunno, which I purchased).
Thanks for posting it (and for the Manyfingers reference - yet another discovery).

The story of the creation of our new album "Lifelines" is also a story full of time delays. Unfortunately, there is now another one: Due to technical problems in the pressing plant, the CDs can unfortunately be shipped in the second week of September at the earliest. As a small compensation from our side, the numerous pre-orderers (thank you very much! &#128591 will receive a download link with high-resolution MP3 files in advance by email.
In addition, tomorrow morning we will publish a second new song on Youtube with "Of Lambs And Lions".
The digital release of "Lifelines" is of course not affected by the time delays.
And of course you can still pre-order the CD via Ragnarök Records: https://www.ragnaroek-records.com/sh...tist-lifelines
Thank you for your understanding and your patience!

As posted somewhere else on the forum: Recalled To Life Chapter Two by Steve Robinson, released on Art Of Life Records
    https://www.artofliferecords.com/rec...haptertwo.html

Art of Life Records is proud to present "Recalled to Life - Chapter Two", the follow-up release to Steve’s 2016 debut recording, “Recalled to Life - Chapter One” (Art of Life AL1046-2). Steve was a member of the British group 'Igginbottom which recorded the album "Igginbottoms Wrench" in 1969 which also included guitarist Allan Holdsworth. "Recalled to Life - Chapter Two" is a continuation of the music that appeared on “Recalled to Life - Chapter One” and includes fourteen original compositions by Steve. Three of the songs on “Recalled to Life - Chapter Two” originally appeared on “Recalled to Life - Chapter One” and are included here as alternate versions featuring different musicians. Also included on the album are three previously unreleased bonus tracks that feature Steve’s compositions written for strings and string quartet. The album features Pat Schroeder on drums, Dave Bryant on drums, Steve Zerlin on electric & acoustic bass, Denny Lalouette on electric bass and Avzal Ismail on keyboards. Recorded at various locations in South Africa, India, United Kingdom and the U.S.A. All tracks mixed and mastered by Paul G. Kohler at Art of Life Studios in Charleston, South Carolina in 2015, 2016 & 2021.
    Producers Notes
In October 2020 Steve and I had made plans to resume working on his second album of material at the end of January 2021. Sadly, Steve passed away on December 30th, 2020 in South Africa. Fortunately, most of the tracks for all of the songs had already been recorded back in 2015 and 2016 by all of the musicians except for one bass track and one drum track for two songs. During that time I worked closely with Steve to create rough mixes of most of the songs on “Recalled to Life - Chapter Two”. I had also saved all of the email exchanges between Steve and myself, over 3,000 messages, and was able to go back through all of the emails and take notes so I knew exactly how Steve wanted each song to be mixed.

After Steve’s passing, a friend of Steve’s, David Novis, reached out to me via Facebook and asked me about music that Steve had started writing for an album of his original compositions for a string quartet. I confirmed with David that Steve and I had indeed planned on recording and releasing an album of his original songs written and performed by a string quartet at some point in the future after the release of both of his albums, "Recalled to Life - Chapter One" and "Recalled to Life - Chapter Two". Steve had already begun writing some of the music for the string quartet album back in 2016 and 2017 and had sent me several MIDI files of what he had written so far. After exchanging messages with David, along with his suggestion that I find a way to make the string quartet music available, I decided that it would be a nice touch to include a few of the MIDI tracks of Steve’s music composed for strings and string quartet even though the pieces remain unfinished. The “Untitled Strings Composition” dates back to 2006 and the “Recalled to Life” (string quartet) track features many of the melodies and themes from Steve’s two albums, “Recalled to Life - Chapter One” and “Recalled to Life - Chapter Two” written specifically for a string quartet. By including these bonus tracks on the album it gives us an idea of what might have been. R.I.P. my dear friend, you will be missed but not forgotten. ~ Paul G. Kohler, Art of Life Records

Listening to the new Leprous album, Aphelion, on Spotify right now.

It's enjoyable enough but four songs in it makes me feel tired. It's like I'm listening to variations of the same song at the same tempo with the same emotions over and over again.
