Anna von Hausswolff, Swedish I think, has a new album out called, All Thoughts Fly. Sort of prog, sort of post rock, and classical influences.

It's actually pure church organ soundscapes (no vocals) and yes very classical post rock.

Looking-Glass Lantern - A World of Great Invention

This artist is new to me although I may have listened to a track or two from previous records. The music is nice, but the storytelling is a little too straightforward for me. It's like a Wikipedia article set to music.

Listening to this now and liking it quite a bit. It's like more listenable ambient music.

I received a promotional copy of the mini-album VOID by Corecass (=Elinor Lüdde) and the sticker on the cover reads "With shades Of Hildur Gudnadóttir and Anna von Hausswolff". I guess the latter is included because of the use of church organ next to her "usual" instruments (harp, accordion, electric guitar, voice) and field recordings.

    Phoen1x - Immaterial Witness

Just because it came up in my feed of new releases (and was available on Spotify), I gave this a listen. I'm assuming it's self-produced and might be a one-man-band project. Not sure. The drums sound canned and at times the beat is off. It's not terrible and at times has good moments - melodic guitar and keyboard parts. The singing is OK. It's just that the style makes me want better production and certainly real drums.

    New from Sonata Island Kommandoh:

Flute, electronics, guitar, keyboards, drums. Fairly experimental stuff, a bit glitchy, plenty for the panheads to dig here!

    Great!

If this is anything like as good as the Atomic Ape platter I'm gonna be all over this.

I wonder why they changed their name, anyways. I thought that Atomic Ape was an amazing name. Now, if I can just somehow navigate through google music...or some such thing, to download this. All bands should use bandcamp, dammit!

I'm still trying to legally find the new Panzerballett album. It only seems to be available on youtube, or as a physical product. I even emailed their official web site as to how to download it, and got no response. It's almost like they want me to just listen to it for free on Youtube. Puzzling. All bands should use bandcamp, dammit!! Ha.

Nice. B.t.w. looks like the main-character from the cover makes his return on the new Days Between Stations:

It's odd, sometimes its very smooth jazz then it gets nice and weird, I'm not sure the weird sufficiently outweighs the smooth.

I must be getting soft in my old age, I quite enjoyed the mellower parts.

It'll be Kenny G for me next

I've got their album Zeuhl Jazz, which I like a lot. Bandcamp described it as Pat Metheny doing a zeuhl album, which caught my interest and is not too far off the mark.

Haven't heard this new one yet, but it's on my list.

Oh, so it's a third name change? I thought they were the same band known as Orange Tulip Conspiracy.

Looks like it as Orange Tulip Conspiracy are up on the Atomic Ape bandcamp page and AA are described as "artists formerly known as "Orange Tulip Conspiracy" have returned with a new lineup, a new sound, a new name -Atomic Ape"

Looking at the line-ups all 3 bands appear to be Jason Schimmel plus guests. The OTC & AA have very long participant list (both more than 20) whereas RF is listed as a straight forward 4 piece with only Ryan Parrish (saxes) having appeared in either of the other line-ups.

That Orange Tulip Conspiracy album is pretty essential if you're into this stuff.

Rumour has it that Weas is actually a huge fan of the James Last Orchestra and that the next FL album is going to be in the vein of a brutal prog / loungecore crossover.
