I just noticed today is the five year anniversary of Hugh's passing. Unbelievable, still.

Wayside Music -
HUGH HOPPER (10 CD series of archival recordings, all/nearly all never-before heard, as curated by Michael King. He's enlisted Hugh's personal archive, as well as the archives of friends of Hugh's. Mike says, "I've been tasked with compiling a series of CD releases celebrating the life and legacy of the late Hugh Hopper and the process has been an education in his kaleidoscopic musical world. This series, comprising nine CDs, will be released this year by Gonzomultimedia and we can thank Headmaster Rob Ayling for his unflagging support above and beyond the call of commercial duty. From Hugh's private archive, and additional contributions from his friends (most especially Aymeric) I have selected a wide range of high quality concert and studio recordings, none of which have ever been released nor heard publicly. You're in for a treat.")
Well, Volume Two, Third, 1984, Freedom is Frightening, Hoppertunity Box, Soft Heap, Two Rainbows Daily, Delta Flora and Uses Wrist Grab for this listener.
Fantastic musician - end of story.
"Improvisation is not an excuse for musical laziness" - Fred Frith
"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM
I had the pleasure, briefly, at Progman Cometh some years ago. He and Elton were very nice. Hugh's participation in multiple bands at the time was impressive.
You gotta love the Hopster!
RIP sir.
