Thread: Your only final choice

    Your only final choice

When accuracy, accurate and minimalist choice happening, which one would be your true only one album?

Olias of Sunhillow, would be my true and only choice,

So much, as a conceptual album never arrived to be compared with any other when this was published in 1976.

So much the concept was beyond the whole musical perception of that time.

This thread is inspired on another found by here in the forum.
The name of that one is: What five albums define your musical taste and why?, ok.

So, which one could be yours?

    Helmut Koellen-You Won't See Me

In a nutshell, this record is the best example of how Mr. Koellen wrote, sang and played right from his heart, a truly sincere and genuine artist. It speaks to me like no other recording.

    Nuff said.

Nowadays, it xould be Caravanserai, I guess ... but I'd say it's valid for the last two decades

But it wasn't always the case, because of personal taste evolution

I'd say in the 70's, it would've been a close call between .... well, read the other thread (Five defining albums)

I'm bracing for the backlash from this post, but if I had to pick just one (and believe me, it'd be tough) I'd go with Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory. I like the idea of a double Usual Suspects ending/climax, so to speak (presuming most of us have seen the classic film). Namely, the revelation that the murder-suicide was actually a double homicide and that Nicholas (present-day) is Victoria reincarnated and the hypnotherapist (present-day) is Senator Edward Baines reincarnated.

honorable mention (sorry, OP, couldn't resist) :
    marillion- Brave
    Queensryche- Operation: Mindcrime
    Pink Floyd- The Wall
    Genesis- Foxtrot
King Crimson- In The Court of the Crimson King
'The smell of strange colours are heard everywhere'- Threshold

Quite possibly Luis Alberto Spinetta's A 18' del Sol. It's not the absolute greatest recording I know, but I *DO* know that it's one of very few albums I could never do without whatsoever.

That's hard to do when I can rarely figure out what he's talking about (sorry, High).

Is he talking about concept albums? Or just our idea of a perfect album? If it's the former, I'll choose Kevin Gilbert - The Shaming of the True. It it's the latter, mine would be Bruford - One of a Kind.

I found his parameters quite succinct
