Depending on how much this is, I may have to get this.

Wonder why they went out of chrono order with these?

Does anybody know if the shows will be more like the sound fidelity of the Larks Tongues set, or the Red set?

A couple of hundred is a lot easier to justify if I'm going to listen to the material more than twice.

This must mean that the LTIA and Red boxes were a success, so good for 'em.

I suppose my buying this will depend on whether it's 5 cds/dvds or 20.I'll spring for a small/medium box but i'll(probably)pass on a mega box.

    I bought(and dig) RTR but i don't want/need another of similar size.

Just started a thread about this in the What's New forum before I saw this one...

Not many details yet, just that it will include both studio and live reel-to-reel soundboard recordings from '73 - '74.

Could be a brother to "The Road to Red" but one that focuses on European tours/studio recordings

Will have to see what this is like before I auto-buy this time. It took 3 months to get through TRTR but was ultimately worth it.

:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., May 8, 2014
The Starless set in October 2014 set will be book-ended by two other important releases from DGM - 200gram vinyl edition of Islands and the late addition to the ongoing 40th Anniversary Edition series, Beat on CD/DVD-A featuring Steven Wilson’s new stereo and 5 1 surround sound mixes."

I couldn't care less about getting even more live stuff from the Starless period (even though this is my favorite Crim lineup; I have more than enough from this era already), but I'm thrilled to see Beat's remix has a release date!

I wish Kate Bush could milk it like Fripp and Hackett.

I'll almost definitely be on board with this...the only thing that could make me pass is if most of the shows are already released on the Crimso Collectors Club/Great Deceiver/Night Watch releases...which was why I passed on the LTIA box. Of course, the mention of studio recordings is intriguing, and I'm always up for as many live versions of Exiles I can get my hands on

Unless it has an hour long dvd of live performances from that era it's not for me, I have enough live material from this era, other buying priorities.

I'll say to myself that I don't need this set, but, man, those three German '74 KCCCs that have been released are smokers.

    Hmmm . . .

Now your telling me! This alone should deserve a thread on its own. I've been waiting for "Beat" for more than a couple of years to arrive.

    +1

It did take about a week and a half to get through all of the Road to Red material. (What a treasure-trove!!) A Starless box set (Medium-sized or Mega) will still be an auto-buy for me.

Someone over on the SH forums was kind enough to research which of the suggested SaBB boxed sets' shows were previously available, so if you have any of the following, then you will have an idea of the SQ:

23rd oct 73 Glasgow Great Deceiver, SABB (1 track), DGM Download (full)
15th Nov 73 Zurich Great Deceiver, KCCC 41, SABB (1 track)
23rd Nov 73 Amsterdam Night Watch, SABB (3 tracks)
19th March 74 Udine DGM Download
20th March 74 Brescia DGM Download
27th March 74 Augsburg DGM Download
29th March 74 Heidelberg KCCC 29, DGM Download
30th March 74 Mainz KCCC 15, DGM Download
31st March 74 Pforzheim DGM Download
1st April 74 Kassel KCCC 36, DGM Download

Fripp has always been a little frustrated by the 'classic line-up' tag this period of KC carries. This boxed set, along with the LTiA and TRTR boxes, will enable him to release every studio and live recording of note from this period and essentially put it to rest. Well, unless BB comes out of retirement! You heard it here first.
