Blog about recording - with a prog slant

I've started a blog that deals with recording and mixing on a budget. I give tips on how to get a polished, interesting and dynamic sound on a shoestring budget. There will be more than a few prog related angles in future posts there. Do check it out if it sounds interesting.

Great stuff, Jacob. I've enjoyed it and shared it with a few friends who are in to such things.

Interesting stuff, although I don't record vocals. Besides, I'm more into instruments. The only other stuff I have is a mixer, a digital reverb and an analog delay, which I never use.

So glad you like it, thanks for the comments!

I'll have to get back to writing there - I've been too busy actually mixing

Anyways, I'll put up something new there soon. Meanwhile feel free to visit my studio's site as well: http://www.duderanchstudio.com

Excellent... I know what you mean, mixing can be very time consuming. EQ'ing is frustrating for me, trying to figure out where to boost and cut, and how much.

Great stuff in here! I really enjoyed the vocal segment a lot -- excellent info and a few things I didnt know either. Its always great to learn something new.

I disagree with you about bass: there's easier cost effective ways to get a great bass sound on a shoestring budget. EDIT: Yes, I realize this is all subjective
