No need for me to make a list , all of my favorites of 2014 have already been brought up in this thread , it has been a great year for Prog music.

But I have to mention the new album from Dave Kerzner ,"New World" , I just bought it yesterday from his Bandcamp page and for me is it right up there with the very best from 2014 , a fantastic album. I am on my second listen as I type and am blown away by it.

I Kickstarted the Deluxe edition. I'm probably waiting till the deluxe edition version is up for download, but looking forward to it. Amazing the energy Squids seems to have maintained for the duration.

    New stuff only...

Most played album of the year

    Flying Colors Second Nature

Some other great records that may have changed my life just a little bit.

    Glass Palindrome
    Sonar Static Motion
My Brother the Wind There Once was a Time... (the title is a joke, right??)
    Ideal Bread Beating the Teens

Records that haven't changed my life at all but were enjoyable all the same

    Yes Heaven and Earth
    Pink Floyd Endless River
    Solaris Martian Chronicles 2
    Djam Karet Regenerator 3017

    Disappointments

Opeth Pale Communion (I'll try again with this one, but so far... nada.)
Ian Anderson Homo Erraticus (My own fault. I didn't like TAAB2. Why was I expecting this to be different?)

    Still must buy...
    Cellar and Point, Aranis, Aquaserge

    1. IQ - Road of Bones

    3. D Project - Making Sense

    OK, I'll play...
Here's an alphabetical list of stuff I've picked up this year and enjoyed quite a bit (including a few live albums)

    Anathema: Distant Satellite
    Flying Colors: Second Nature
Imogen Heap: Sparks (almost counts as "prog" in my world, even if not in most of yours)
    IQ: Road of Bones
    Knifeworld: The Unravelling
    Nick Magnus: N'Monix
Marillion: A Sunday Night Above the Rain [enjoyed the Holland edition more than the Montreal gig]
    Moon Safari: Live in Mexico
    Opeth: Pale Communion
    Pineapple Thief: Magnolia
    Pink Floyd: The Endless River
    Steve Rothery: Ghost of Pripyat
    RPWL: Wanted
    Sanguine Hum: Live in America
    Matt Stevens: Lucid
    Tin Spirits: Scorch
    Transatlantic: Kaleidoscope
    Transatlantic: KaLIVEoscope

My favourite five are Flying Colors, Nick Magnus, Pineapple Thief, Pink Floyd and Transatlantic.

Having pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Squids' new magnum opus, and not received it yet, I'll have to count that as 2015. I'm looking forward to it, whenever Dave can manage it (I'm happy to wait).

I bought Yes's Heaven and Earth, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd wanted to. There's no way it's consistent enough to include in the above list, but I don't regret buying it.

I picked up some albums from 2013 that I'd missed on release that I really liked, including Airbag's The Greatest Show on Earth and The Tangent's Le Sacre du Travail.
Also, I picked up several Porcupine Tree albums that I'd never got around to (Fear of a Blank Planet, Deadwing and In Absentia), and also some classic Gentle Giant and Van der Graaf Generator.
All in all, I've had a very pleasing Prog year.

Based on play counts in Itunes and Ipod in car, where all of my music listening is done.

    In no particular order:

    Franck Vaillant - Raising Benzine
Bly De Blyant - Hindsight Bias
    John Zorn - Psychomagia
    Tuatara - Underworld
    pommelHORSE -Winter Madness
    Pat Metheny - Kin (<-->)
    Flying Lotus - You're Dead
    Ludi Voyak - s/t
The Cellar And Point - Ambit
    Univers Zero - Phosphorescent Dreams
    Magma -Riah Sahiltaah
no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone

I mentioned that the Flying Colors album was in my top 5 and got a few puzzled replies. So I am glad that a few more people have mentioned this enjoyable album - though they have yet to have their decision questioned

Lovely album - probably just prefer the latest efforts by Gazpacho, Anathema and IQ.

    2014 - a decent year (IMHO)

For someone who puts out music I like, I own none of these. Was the Tuatara as good as Trading With The Enemy.

Seeing as I love those in green I better checkout those in red.

Mastodon: Once More 'Round the Sun is not prog to me. Maybe some of their previous albums are prog. I don't know. But the latest is definitely not prog.

How 'bout that latest Yes album? Is it or isn't it prog - to you? Is it? Isn't it? I mean, maybe some of Yes' previous albums are prog, but is this prog? Truly true prog? This one?

Archival release-Volume 4 of the 10 volume cd retrospective of Hugh Hopper's music has found its way to my player numerous times over the past couple of months. I have all of the releases in this series, and so far, Vol. 4-Four By Hugh By Four is my favorite of the series and a wonderful listen in its own right.Sax/bass clarinet, trombone, bass guitar and drums is the lineup for this live date from 2000 in Amsterdam. No guitar or keyboard in the front line gives this date a sense of space and instrumental separation that sets it apart from the others in this series.Strong playing from all, good sound...yeah, i'll put this in with my best of 2014.

    here's a funny...

there are 6 albums in Gnosis listed as having been released in 2015

I havent finished listening to all the 2014 albums enough times to rate them all

now, with 2015 2 days away, I already have 6 albums I'm behind on
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
