Anyone remember this band from the'90's?
I think they are still out there searching for a new vocalist...
Still have their first couple of albums that I play now and again.
Great band from U.K.Signed i think to Cyclops along with many superb bands back then like Grace,Flamborough Head, and Mostly Autumn amongst others.Pretty sure they're still performing.
I really enjoyed the 1st album...I'll have to revisit it one of these days.
Thanks for the kind comments! TheH is right - yes, we got back together again a couple of years ago after I left Thieves' Kitchen and we've done a few shows, but we are indeed now looking for a new singer due to Martin's commitments elsewhere. The new album is all but written, we just need the right person to pitch in on the singing/lyrics side of things! 'Fear' to me was far and away our best album, but what do I know... ;-)
Fear was the first album I picked up and really liked it, so ended up picking up the other cd's as well.
I think Fear was the most polished in terms of production, and some great tracks. The earlier albums had some great material and I like them, but they kind of lacked a little compared to Fear.
Sadly I never got to see the band in the original incarnation, however the double live album is a killer, especially The Crime played in it's entirety. Bass and Drums really kick ass on that track.
I did see the band at the Borderline in London after they reformed, but it just wasn't working for me.
But I still like the earlier albums (never really gave Starcrossed a proper listen), some great melodies and themes, very good keyboard work and some nice epic tracks.
Still curious to see what the band come up with next though, and giving The Crime a spin as we speak.
I have their albums on cyclops and used to e-mail one of them back in the 1990s... When Britpop was at its peak and prog rock bands couldn't get arrested. I recall him saying that he didn't like Oasis mich but thought Blur were good. Must dig out those albums. iI have a lot of the old cyclops stuff.
Mark Westworth, whose keys I enjoyed with GLD, later joined IQ but I see he's not on their newest. I liked his work with IQ quite a bit, and Midge's shoes are hard to fill!
Yeah, FEAR was their best from what I remember. Saw them once & they encored with the Sparks track TTABEFTBOU!!
What's the live album like?
I think we were on fire on the double live album 'Time Of Our Lives', Rufus, but then I'm biased...
I have fond memories of GLD busking in Oxford (Prog-While -You-Shop!) & being much more enjoyable than Porcupine Tree whilst supporting them at The Venue. Happy days...

We've just confirmed that Grey Lady Down will be playing the Fringe at the Fairport Convention Cropredy Festival this year on the Saturday lunchtime, August 9th. Marillion play the main festival later that day so we're hoping for a great turnout!
You guys should learn a Chemical Alice song. Mark Kelly would have to join you on stage!
So, is there a front man or are the audience in for GLD Mark II - Freeform Jazz Odyssey?
What if the Hokey Cokey really IS what it's all about?
There will be a front man, Ted...
Sadly, we never saw GLD with the perfect frontman: Charlton Heston!
