A Passion Play / Chateau D'Isaster - Steven Wilson 5.1 mix to be released June 13

Oh, I've been waiting for this. .... From the official S. Wilson facebook page:

Steven’s stereo / 5.1 remix of Jethro Tull's 1973 album A Passion Play has been announced for release on 13th June as a deluxe 2 CD / 2 DVD set, including new mixes of both the album itself and the “lost” album recorded at Château d'Hérouville in 1972, for the first time in its complete 60 minute form. Note that this release is not yet available to pre-order.

Steven’s new stereo / 5.1 surround sound mix of the third album by Yes (official), 1970’s The Yes Album will be released on the 14th April, and is now available to pre-order from both Headphone Dust and Burning Shed. Fully approved by the band, The Yes album will be available in a choice of either CD/Blu-Ray in a vinyl replica gatefold card sleeve, or CD/DVD in digipack. Both feature a booklet featuring new notes by Sid Smith, rare photos and archive material, and plentiful bonus audio material, including studio out-takes, live versions, single edits, instrumentals…etc.

Will buy for the Chateau D'Isaster tapes. (No real interest in Wilson's APP mix from what I've heard) Glad to see it being released.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.

It's what was being recorded post-TAAB and came to be released as the "Chateau D'Isaster" tapes on disc 2 of Nightcap. This one looks to be ten minutes longer (with "Sailor" included?), and I presume in a different running order given the discussions that have gone on in the intervening years.

Both sound enticing, but this would be my 4th, I believe, copy of The Yes Album, only one behind Close to the Edge for the lead in that unfortunate category.

I'm curious, what does "Yes (official)" mean, in the first sentence of that paragraph?

Gee. APP is one of my favorite albums by anyone and I have Nightcap. I think I may have to spring for this anyway.

Hmm...haven't ever heard of this...although i confess i'm not a huge Tull/Anderson fan...i got a bit out of and love me some TAAB, Passion, Songs From The Woods, and Aqualung...with the rest of the catalog aside from obvious singles being relatively unknown to me...

    IMO TAAB2 was pretty forgettable.

An acronym ubiquitous in threads discussing the works of Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson, the latter having released a "sequel" to one of the most acclaimed 1970s Jethro Tull albums.

Yeah, I kind of guessed he was (the smiley), but I thought, "what if he isn't ?" and replied without really replying.

You said taab2 was forgettable, just following up on that! I'm a huge Tull fan, but I'm also a smart Alec.

I've always thought the original mix on The Yes Album was a bit dodgy (especially all the panning doo-dads) so I'm curious to see what SW does with it. As long as he doesn't mess with the overall balance and punch of Eddie Offord's original work.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

If there are 2 CD's and 2 DVD's gotta think the answer is yes.

I think this new "Chateau D'Isaster" will be quite a different presentation from the Nightcap version. And better!

If original multi-track tapes were available, I suspect so.

I've never owned A Passion Play, and haven't listened to it in many years. I recall hearing CD2 of Nightcap many years ago and liking a lot of it. This may be a good time to get both!

I may be imagining this, but wasn't there some talk about wiping the sax from APP? I hope not, as I like the sax parts!

It's alarming that what's being hyped as the "complete" Chateau session seems to be missing "Look at the Animals," which was one of the biggest surprises on Nightcap. I can only hope that it's incorporated into one of the other titles--perhaps that's what "Big Top" is. The other missing titles are "First Post" and "Post Last"; I'm guessing that the latter may have been retitled "Critique Oblique (Part II)."
