As a HUGE fan of The Stooges and Iggy Pop as a solo artist, I am majorly bummed out. Rest In Power, Scott. At least he'll be reunited with his brother Ron.

Big Rich, long-time friend of the Ashetons and a member of the MC5 inner-circle, just posted this as well, as a friend of the family. Both Ashetons are now gone, as is Fred Smith and Rob Tyner of the 5, and their long-time poster artist Gary Grimshaw, who died just a few weeks ago. I feel like part of my life, as a Detroit boy, is being disassembled.

And Osterberg was the one who abused himself. God has a strange sense of humor.

    Rest in Stooge, Scott.
We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973
