I believe you are referring to the DUCK AND COVER show, from Berlin. It was available on the ReR QUARTERLY MAGAZINE VOL. 1 #2 (see that here):

There was another show, only boot, and without George Lewis. Quite a different setlist, comprised of many Art Bears tunes.

Of course I have the ReR quarterly, its probably the most essential compilation that I have in my collection (this and Cassix alone are worth the price of admission), I was referring to the bootleg version, so my head is fine you say

However I remember one specifically - a show by Duck and Cover, seems to be taken from the radio (or a good audience recording) I think from a show in Germany

I too have the book. I flipped through to a random page and there was a dense academic discussion around improvisational forms. I flipped through to another random page and it was about who was shagging who. So the book seems to efficiently cover all possible angles! I look forward to reading it.

Today, the "Echoes of Henry Cow" project, with John Greaves as special guest, are performing in Brest, the French city closest to the US ! (Just a little swim away from NYC...)

I've finished it now and it's highly interesting and informative indeed (and they were all shagging each other, yes). The only disappointing thing was there was no insight into the last couple of Art Bears records, but seeing as it's a book focussed on the Cow (who were over by then anyway) i suppose that's fair enough.

It took me a while to get through it because i've got John Szwed's book on Sun Ra and i've been going back and forth between the two and found myself more pulled in by the Ra.

One of the best jazz biographies I've read; Szwed really explains Sun Ra.

Paul Youngquist’s more recent A Pure Solar World is quite good as well, as are John Corbett's various writings.

I just found three copies of the book at Tronsmo, the downtown Oslo shop made somewhat famous by Allen Ginsberg's statement that it's "[…] the greatest bookstore in the world". According to one of the clerks they'd sold eight copies of it since first offering it two weeks back. Not bad for such a work, and yet another token to Oslo/Norway as hotbed for interesting music culture.

My Cow Box Redux arrived this morning. I am full of joy, and can now read the book while listening to everything. (But it has taken me much of the day to put 16 CDs on to my computer/iPod!)

"Poglith Drives a Vauxhall Viva" is a gem.

Got both book and box two days ago. Now I need four weeks holidays to really dive in.

Bought it some two weeks back and brought with me the book to read on a couple of the local pubs that Friday and Saturday. All in all I had three folks come over to comment on the "[…] interesting title but strange name for an author".

And they weren't speaking of Piekut.

One of the interestées was a very nice woman though, so I forgave her. See? I didn't even have to mimic Steve Wislon, simply content to be an ardent HC-fan who (according to my colleagues) looks like the rabid captain on a rat-infested pirateship.

Could be worse; I could've looked like a galley toyboy.

There is so much to dive in to. It's a lovely box: I'm partly dipping in and out, partly trying to approach it chronologically.
