I was introduced to TD when I asked a friend if he and anything like Pink Floyd but w/o the lyrics. After ODing on Animals and The Wall, while I love those albums, Waters lyrics can get overbearing. Anyway my friend gave me Thief. I was wanting more. In short order I picked up Tangram, Force Majeure and Poland. They are all excellent. Then I found Phaedra in the cutout bin for $2.99. After hearing it, my brother thought I over paid, but it is stunning. I had never heard anything like it. Especially the title track and Mysterious Semblance.

See that's the thing about an album like Phaedra, I listen to it and get transported to an altered state, so I don't even need the pot. I imagine that might enhance my experience even more, but I'm not going down that road at this stage of my life.

Thanks for sharing battema. Yeah, that's pretty cool. It only lasts about five seconds when you look away but still cool.

Windows users... Copy and paste the artwork of Encore Live into MS-Paint, and then select the image and right-click to select "Invert color".

Stare at the image for at least 30 seconds and then quickly look away at a white or light-colored wall. You'll briefly see the cover with its correct colors on the wall.

(If you're not using Windows, there's probably something similar on your OS.)

That's just this old trick http://www.moillusions.com/american-...ical-illusion/ but I remembered that TD's album had the American flag on it.

Yeah...I've seen variations on that one before. I just hadn't posted a silly response in a thread in a bit and was feeling negligent

A TD obsessed friend loaned me the whole lot of 70's/80's TD albums and Phaedra is the only one I went out and bought. Not sure what it is but there's just something darker in Phaedra than their other work that really grabs me...

If you missed the 40th Anniversary of Tangerine Dream's "Phaedra" on Echoes, it is up as a podcast with interviews from Moby, Ulrich Schnauss, Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Mark Shreeve, Ian Boddy, Alan Howarth. http://wp.me/pgATL-2JA

I missed the broadcast so I'll listen to the podcast. Cool that Alan Howarth chimed in...

You mean he threw turds in the punchbowl. Yes, that's what he did.
