Present - Nice album reissue article from Goldmine

This article discusses the recent reissues of Triskaidekaphobie and Le Poison Qui Rend Fou:

I didn't even know about these reissues. They have a ton of bonus tracks!

    Wow...very cool article.

There are a couple of threads going about the Present reissues. In a nutshell: buy them, and buy them gladly
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Buy them now, wonderful stuff, the remastering is great, the bonus material is great, the liner notes are great.

"Today, Present’s sound is less avant-progressive (the term most frequently flung at them) than it is a forebear of a lot of what passed as Prog in more recent years. "

I am not sure I understood this part

Great review, with one reservation - that "Ersatz" is presented as a 25-minute piece (?!).

The guy is actually pointing to the title track of Le Poison, right?

I think it's a typo and he means 5 minute piece for Ersatz and the '2' was a slip of the key.

Because there isn't any studio track on either of those albums that is 25' long. The longest song on Le Poison is 15:24.

Well, it's no big deal anyhow; I thought the article/review was great as such - and more people always need to hear these releases. As for the "no longer being 'avant-progressive' thing", I'm not reading all too much into that except for it trying to convey how even a rather obscure act like Present indeed came to have their own followers in time.

Finally had a chance to hear a few tracks properly cranked on the B&W's since the wife and kids are still in NJ.

The star of the show here is the Udester. Too bad this article doesn't mention the dude who made this happen. What a masterful job at making these works sound much improved, basically perfect. Across the entire spectrum, it is sonic perfection....the bass now has an extension that was missing before and there is a solid bite on the mid's/upper mid's without making your ears bleed. Like I said, sonic perfection. Warmth, but with balls. I was never super keen on the sound until now.

(That should actually be Peroni bottles, as I'm having them in tribute of Francesco this afternoon). Udi's the best!

Tribute or not, that stuff is piss water. Go buy a Belhaven Wee Heavy instead and eat a dish of pasta and meatballs.
