    'the obligatory Hendrix perm'

So wrote Roger Waters on The Wall.

But how obligatory was it, actually? I.e. who actually had one?

It should be "the Hendrix perm by way of Dylan."

I believe he was referring to Syd.

I also believe that the line, "silver spoon on a chain" was a swipe at Rick Wright.

Yeah, it's mentioned in one of the Floyd books that's the case. I think it's been said the character of Pink is a composite of a bunch of different people Roger knew over the years, as well as as himself, of course.

Speaking of "obligatory perms", I read once that the ridiculous hairdo that Adam Clayton had in the early years of U2 (you can see it in the Gloria video, for instance) was a homage to Phil Lynott.
