Big Fan. Have most of their releases. Live they are fun and lively. I just got their first two releases and I hear hints of Gong, Passport, and others that I didn't hear on later releases.

The first NEARfest I attended was 2003 and that is when I first heard them. 13 years later, they are still probably my favorite band that I had never heard, that my first exposure was live.

I don't hate it, but it seems a little "lite"....

Wintrup is a great album, but honestly it's like choosing between kids with their albums.

Wish I would have seen them live...

On the latest Hattler album: Bassball II there are 3 new Kraan tracks (earworms!) and two more kraan sounding tracks.

CD can be preordered (or downloaded) here: https://www.bassball.net/shop/hellmu...er-bassball-2/

    Bad news:

Jan Fride has just informed me that Hellmut Hattler is hospitalized with cancer. Don't know (yet) which kind.
    All concerts are cancelled.

I emailed with Hellmut two weeks ago, and then he was well, energetic, and happy about the great response for his new album 'Bassball II', which btw is out now as Download, CD, and coming as LP too.

Sad news, lots of well-wishes to him on his FB page.

Best wishes. Their sets at both Progday and NEARfest were absolutely wonderful.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Very sad news indeed. Hope he will recover. I think he still is very much a relevant artist.
I really enjoy his work with Ali Neander.

GRRRR... Was just listening to Psychedelic Man yesterday and it got me thinking that HH is one of the most under-appreciated bass players in rock music.

    Cancer sucks!
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery to Hellmut.

I too saw them at ProgDay and NEARFest and will third or fourth the enthusiasm for those shows.

I like that album a lot and Kraan is an incredible band period. I actually picked up Helmut's new solo album and it's a bit of a mixed bag but the songs with Kraan helping him out are very good. Hope he beats this.
