Might as well start a thread about the band. Anything you want to talk about.

Here is a video I put together from the 2004 promo tour:
In that Today show bit, Curt looks really cold - to think USA commercial morning TV finally got a peek at the talents of Nick D'Virgilio (aka "SuperGroove") and didn't realize ..... Nice vid, Gruno, thanks for sharing it here.
Love the album ELAHE, in fact, may just be their finest for me. Hoping they make it Chicago in 2013 (and not a casino!)
"Always ready with the ray of sunshine"
I hope they make it to me in 2013 and I don't care if it's a casino or not.
Seeds of Love is probably one of my fav albums of all time. Brit pop songwriting at its best. The drum performances by Manu Katche, Simon Phillips & Phil Collins are inspiring.
Gruno, are they ever gonna record another album?
I liked the first 2 but haven't really got into anything else they've done.
I liked a couple tunes here and there, (mainly the ones that sounded more Beatles-ish) but overall, they were just another 80's pop band
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
T4F was arguably the best 80's pop band.
But what do I know; I like Scritti Politti
A band that definitely transcended the clutch of '80's flotsam. Great Art-Pop, or whatever. Long Live T4F.
I honestly doubt it. Roland seems very happy writing fiction. He is looking for a publisher for his first book and is well into writing his next book. He still pens music/demos for others.
Curt was asking fans (via his website) if they would back a kickstarter method to fund the new album. I can't say what Roland said, but he didn't have too much to say in favor of that. In my opinion, if a band like Tears For Fears need to run a kickstarter campaign to fund a new album, then they should not be making albums. I don't mind kickstarter for some, but for a band such as TFF, it just seems 'cheap'. Curt posts on Twitter/FaceBook each time he and his children get a new Apple product (iPhone, MacBook Pro), car (Triumph, Mini Cooper), vacations, etc... so I feel that it is a bit awkward to then ask fans to "help us out" via kickstarter.
If they were to do another album, it would be years away, unfortunately.
Let these two releases kick your ass:
- Raoul And The Kings Of Spain
- Tomcats Screaming Outside
Raoul has some amazing work on it. It is from the mid 90s and features TFF without Curt. Roland's material on here is some of his strongest of the TFF catalogue.
Seek out the re-released import from 2009 as it has acoustic tracks and B-sides:
http://www.amazon.com/Raoul-Kings-Sp...kings+of+spain
Tomcats is Roland's only solo album (in name) from 2001. While different in style from any TFF album, this release is what I turn to the most when I want to hear Roland Orzabal. Give it a try.
I very much enjoy their 2004 reunion CD, Everybody Loves A Happy Ending, which is the promo tour in the clip I posted early in the thread.
You used up all those mouse clicks to then say that?
Just like to make a shout for Elemental. This is the first "no Curt" album. It may not be one of their finest, but it's a good clutch of songs, and still sounds pretty fresh to my ears.
Also, their b-sides from the 80s shouldn't go unmentioned. There's a LOT of experimental music in there, a Robert Wyatt cover; get Saturnine Martial & Lunatic and the "deluxe" SFTBC and you have them all!
"Always ready with the ray of sunshine"
I love the string of "The Seeds of Love" through "...Happy Ending". I include "Tomcats..." in the list too, high quality stuff throughout.
A lot of borderline "prog" tracks:
Badman's Song
Famous Last Words
Mr. Pessimist
Brian Wilson Said
Los Reyes Católicos (and reprise)
Who Killed Tangerine?
Ladybird
-noisynoise
www.polarizedguru.com - 5-piece jazz fusion group
www.incandescentsky.com - inventive improvisational instrumental ensemble
Don't forget the awesome "Power"
