Definitely agree. ADKOT still gets spins by me a few times a month. I love this album. Some scoff at Van Halen dusting off 1970s demos for the bulk of this album, but who cares as long as the songs translate well in present day. I think they came out fine. Many of the lyrics were rewritten to reflect the times. Good job! If anyone wants to hear some of the demos for this album, let me know and I can post them.
I like that album. I haven't listened to it in about 10 years. I do have some select tracks in a Van Halen playlist.
Thanks for playing!
I enjoy everything up through "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge". FUCK is the best of the Hagar years, to me.
I often listen to the 3 acoustic songs along with ADKOT. They were recorded very well.
As for the DLR solo discs, I have everything he has done. Some good efforts. I could probably make a solid 2-disc set from his solo work.
For those who are into the Roth-era of Van Halen, there was an official box set released by Warner Bros. in the later part of 2013. All 6 CDs (1978-1984) in mini-LP sleeves. I believe Rush and Yes also have similar box sets. I have done an A/B comparison with some of the remasters of 2000 and have found some better results with this boxed set.
I already had the remasters, but for the price ($25.00 at the time) it was perfect to buy using an Amazon gift card that I had received. Set this box set next to ADKOT and you are set for the VH-Roth era.
