I know it's hard, but to maintain one's perspective and sanity within the PE walls, one must have a "talk to the hand" attitude and ignore the many, many, many, many, many, many posts labeling and compartmentalizing prog (as well as other music).
Two labels - good or bad. That's all anyone who doesn't have OCD or isn't anal retentive needs.
WELCOME!!

So, since it’s been a while since I’ve seen most of you, it’s likely you wouldn’t recognize me since I look so different these days compared to how I used to. Here’s me in my vintage finery at the Beard & Moustache Contest in Sacramento, from this past Saturday. I’m the one on the right, my friend Regev (visiting from Peoria to take part in the contest) is to my left. Didn’t catch the names of the other two, but I’m pretty sure the lady on the left is wearing her actual army uniform, unlike the rest of us poseurs.

Working seasonally in the park service these days. After two quite challenging years at Big Basin, I’m glad to be working closer to home these days (my assignment starts soon, but I’m still not sure how soon!).

I guess I'll reintroduce myself since I just joined back last night after a 7 years sabbatical. I've been a member on and off since 1999 when PE was a Yahoo group, I've been known mostly as Yes_Im_On_A_Rush_In_Kansas and Prog Dog along with other handles (they still use that word?). Name is Omar, I hail from Puerto Rico, at your service.
I live in an ephemeral eternity
Welcome home Omar.

Hi everyone. I'm Rob. I live in Wisconsin. I just joined the forum yesterday.
I've been listening and enjoying progressive rock since the mid 70s when I was in middle school. Favorite bands back then were Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Allan Parsons Project, Kansas, Jethro Tull and Starcastle. And of course I liked a lot of the other rock bands back then - Heart, Foghat, Bad Company, REO Speedwagon, and I'll even admit that as a teen I was a Ted Nugent fan. A few years later, in high school, I got into Rush too. I actually didn't like them when I first heard them.
I used to attend some of the progressive rock festivals but it's been almost 20 years since I went to one. How those years go by.
Howdy there, Rob. Welcome and have fun.
Lou
Atta boy, Luther!

I still exist somehow
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
nice to hear from you... how have you been??
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
Welcome back, Omar and IMWeasel, and welcome to PE, Rob!
