Hey guys...IncogNeato here...you can call me whatever you want.
Welcome, Dude!
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Thanks!
My leanings are kinda all over the map, honestly. I'd have to say my favorite Prog band would be Kansas...I love them to bits and have everything they've ever released (many on CD and vinyl doubled).
Beyond that, wow...I can run from Yes/Genesis/King Crimson/Pink Floyd over to Fates Warning/Porcupine Tree/Spock's Beard over to Katatonia/Radiohead/Muse/Crippled Black Phoenix back over to Dream Theater then on over to Marillion, take a run at Opeth, some Bigelf, Enchant, OSI, Rush, Anathema, The Dear Hunter, Camel (learning about Camel lately), Tull....
I guess that would probably be considered more "mainstream" Prog, wouldn't it?
Hello
chavo6 here. Lurked a long time (since PE v2), then joined last winter.
Bass player (Berklee grad), like all types of music. My prog credentials are minimal: a few Yes CDs, attended 2 NearFests and one RosFest. Also saw Yes a few years ago (w/ Davison), excellent show. And by sheer coincidence, a co-worker at my day gig was the drummer for Advent 'Cantus Firmus' era (very interesting how he describes his approach in that band, as a bassist I have much empathy with drummers).
For me, the value of this forum is knowledgable, intelligent discussions on a music genre I know relatively little about. Also really like and learn a lot from the Off-topic threads on 'Sunshine Pop', 'Stoner', jazz and classical.
Oh yeah ... no beer or wine. Gin or tequila, please!

A lurking welcome to you chavo6! Hope your stay here results in a growing collection of Prog. There's a lot of very fine music to be had.
BTW, seems to me I've noticed a few new PE members as of late (at least new to me). It'd be great to have some introductions!
And....cider all the way!
Hey everyone,
Greetings from Melbourne, Australia. Am very excited to have discovered this forum.. I've been listening to Prog rock for over 30 years (King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Porcupine Tree) but am only now expanding my horizons to the multitude of other bands in the genre.. I think my ears are in for a treat! Looking forward to exploring and discussing! Cheers.
Welcome, mud_shark. Be prepared to spend a lot of time here and a lot of money on the prog delights you will discover.
Lou
Atta boy, Luther!
Greetings mud_shark! Enjoy your stay and welcome to "up over".
Hey all --
Just joined the board today -- name's Greg, from Washington, DC.. Been a major progressive fan for approx 30 years now. Favorite bands: Rush, Yes, Tull, Genesis (Pete/Phil eras equally) among others... This seems like an awesome board, look forward to some great discussion!
