    Pallas/ Comedy of Errors

Saw them in Glasgow at the weekend. As usual a really strong show from Pallas. Played a couple of songs from new album "wearewhoweare" which sounded very promising. The band are "crowd sourcing" to complete the album and have lots of good things on offer on their website if you're interested. Euan Lowson, their original singer joined the band onstage (as he did with Comedy of Errors) so this was a special treat. Comedy of Errors short set was really good and I really like their stuff, but having seen a full show from them last month it wasn't enough. At the start of the show Graeme Murray led a fitting tribute to those affected by the helicopter crash in Glasgow on Friday.

I've liked both bands since their inception and have played live alongside both of them in the 80's, and also alongside Lowson's post-Pallas band, Eye Level, a few years later.

Any time Pallas play in Glasgow, Lowson typically turns up "over-refreshed", starts heckling from the crowd and then ends up on stage. I know some people like to see him there, but I know that a couple of years back at the Ferry it really pissed Alan Reed off, and it pissed me off too, as he seemed to go for spoiling it rather than celebrating it. It's a shame really as I loved the band when he was there, but he'd be better off leaving us with good memories rather than tarnishing them.

I didn't make this gig, but hopefully he behaved himself this time and tried not to upstage the band.

I saw Pallas a couple of years ago at The Cathouse and Euan joined them there too. Paul Mackie seemed quite relaxed about it both then and now and there was certainly no heckling from Euan. Like the rest of the crowd I took it as a nice addition to the proceedings and absolutely no tarnishing going on.

That's good to hear. Maybe the fact that it's no longer Alan Reed has a bearing? In any event, I'm glad the legacy is being upheld once again. No-one can take away what Euan did with the band on Arrive Alive & The Sentinel.
