My list is ridiculously small, compared to others. I had long chats with all of them, except Zubin Mehta (who was in a hurry to be somewhere), and all of them were very nice:
Roine Stolt
Jonas Reingold
Lalle Larsson
Al Stewart
Zubin Mehta

I don't think I have ever met a rock star in my life. I went to school with a future rock star, but that's another story.

Mr. Holdsworth is a very affable fella. self-effacing, even. Have spent a few minutes with him, two separate occasions, and enjoyed a beer at a bar once...
Don Alias.....scored for him once. Wayne Krantz, Leni Stern, too...a memorable evening.
A few others, in passing or by quick "hello-I appreciate your stuff" way....
Mike Keneally is a super-nice dude, genuinely interested in what you have to say. Calvin Keys is a true gentleman, and a kind soul.
When I saw Steve Jones in The Neurotic Outsiders (band with Duff McKagen & Matt Sorum of Guns 'n Roses, John Taylor from Duran Duran) at The Whiskey in Hollywood back in the mid-90s, he invited everyone in the club to go to Tower Records after the show so they could take over the store for an impromptu meet 'n greet. It was fun. Tower ended up staying open until about 1:30am! Steve and the band walked down the street with the rest of the fans. Fun times!
Yes (Tormato in the round & 35th Anniversary)
Rush (yes, even Peart - have the autograph to prove it)
Hughie Thomasson of The Outlaws (gave us a bottle of wine which which some douche unceremoniously pulled off my shelf and drank at one of my shindigs. Didn't even get any. The empty bottle was found the next morning)
Frank Zappa
Ray White
All members of Little Feat a bunch of times
All members of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones a bunch of times
Ted Nugent (he tried to pick up my GF right in front of me. She told him to fuck off. My girl. Fkn priceless)
Had an absolute blast sharing many doses of absinthe with Mahogany Frog
Edit: the only one that was planned was the Yes 35th tour. What a joke. Anderson and Wakeman were great...Squire and Howe were...

I did (I think I already mentioned it up-thread). It was at a signing when the Epitaph boxed set was released, at an HMV store in Manhattan. All members of the original lineup were there signing. I shook Fripp's hand (I didn't know that was a no-no back then, but he didn't seem to mind). There was a guy with a boy about 13 years old with him, who wanted to meet Fripp and said he liked the music, and Fripp was very nice and appreciative of that.
I spoke with David Campbell of The Rebel Wheel at a ProgDay a few years back (the one they played at) and then the next year, he saw and recognized me and remembered my name! I was shocked at how good his memory was, because it was a very brief conversation.
Meeting Jean Luc was real nice. He was very polite and friendly and seemed willing to answer any dumb question I wanted to ask but I refrained from being a douche. I had a little trouble with his accent but his English was perfect. I just had to get used to it.

I had a perfect opportunity to talk with Rick Wakeman once outside a nightclub in 84. He was just standing there watching the crew set up the gear. But, my friend talked me out of approaching him as he didn't want to have his hero turn out to be a jerk. Actually, my friend was a jerk, and I've always felt that was a lost opportunity that I've never been able to make up.
Peter Hammill
Ray Charles
Dusty Hill
Buddy Guy

"The woods would be very silent if the only birds that sang were those who sang best..." - Henry David Thoreau
I agree - my wife used to be a pupil of Harold Danko, Lee's piano player for a big chunk of the 80's. We used to go and see them play duiets and quartet dates a lot in NYC. Lee was always very nice to people after gigs and one time we all went out for falafel with Lee, Harold, bassist Marc Johnson and about 15 people after a giog at the New School. Great guy!
