    Jobson

Kudos to Jobson and his regular band members for an impressive set of shows in Japan recently, both the 4 Decades solo shows and a one-off UK show. That's a lot of material to master. (Details in red at http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wnoth.htm#jobson ) Some great performances, I'm sure, not that I was there. <cough> Dimeadozen <cough>

The UK show played the entire UK songbook (except the non-album b-side "When will You Realize?"), but it does rather feel like there's nowhere else for live UK shows to go. What's left to do? (The long-awaited live debut of "When will You Realize?"? They'll never get Bruford out of retirement, although it's not implausible that Jobson might get Holdsworth on stage one day.) Jobson has also talked about ending UK shows. OTOH, his 4 Decades approach failed to sell to promoters and audiences elsewhere.

I hope, as I've said a thousand times, the next step is new material, be it UKZ, solo or UK, or even finally releasing Legacy or The Pink Album. However, Jobson has repeatedly made comments suggesting some of those options are not likely.

My hope would be to see the Green Album performed some day. But that wouldn't make a show; some new material sure would be nice.

He's performed some pieces from the album in his 4 Decades shows (but not the whole thing).

I know, but I haven't seen it The Atlanta show got cancelled. I think a Green + Pink show would be a winner.

I would love for Jobson to focus some time on new material. I have seen him live several times in the last few years solo and with UK and the shows were always very entertaining. I think the nostalgia thing is wearing off a bit though. That said, Eddie finds himself in a challenging position. His solo show attempts have been inconsistently successful, so next steps should be interesting. I think if he records an album with some of the extremely talented musicians he has been working with, it could be great. Eddie hasn't really said anything of late that I have seen though, that would indicate that he is interested in recording and releasing new music.

I was sorting out some vinyl yesterday and came across these two 12" singles:

A three-song promo for Zinc on green vinyl
A promo remix for radio for UK's Nothing to Lose

I don't think there's anything earthshattering or new here, just a couple of interesting artifacts.

If he does new material I hope it's not more of the nine inch nails direction the ukz had.

Agreed!! Time for him to move forward, though I don't believe it will happen.

I think you are right, but we'll see. A UKZ album would be great, but I would be happy with him producing an instrumental keyboard album. The UK thing will only carry him so far and the novelty is wearing off a bit. There isn't enough UK material to really sustain him continuing to just tour variations of people performing UK music.
