    VdGG U.S. television debut!!

On Canvas is an Emmy-award winning music program broadcast to a couple million households in New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania on the local PBS affiliates. Back in June, they interviewed Peter Hammill and filmed Van der Graaf Generator in concert at the Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA. This segment of the show is set to air next week. Airing dates are:

    Thursday, November 29 @ 10pm
    Sunday, December 2 @ 4:30pm
*also* randomly throughout the weekend on their YArts channel.

The VdGG episode will also be posted online for fans all over the world to see on Friday, November 30 @ http://whyy.org/cms/oncanvas/

Various promos will air during the week including TV, radio, Youtube and there will also be information on the 'On Canvas' Facebook and Twitter pages.

I'll have to look out for this. I wonder if other PBS stations will pick this up.

I hope I'm one of those affiliates.

    But pretty awesome either way!

Can't wait. Too bad it is only a half-hour.

A Half hour? That's like two songs. If that.

Cool. thanks for the heads up. On another tack, someone mentioned them last week in "The Nostalgia Forum", a vintage motorsport forum I'm a member of.

I'm just happy for the U.S. exposure (even if it is only regional) that the group will be getting. Thousands will see this show, even if they're not VdGG fans, just based on channel surfing and stumbling upon an interesting music program, etc.

No, I'm not going to see it until it's online Friday.

btw, I was thumbing through John Taylor's (Duran Duran) new autobiography at Barnes & Noble two days ago (hey, it was at the only display table where I could simultaneously keep an eye on my little boy who was looking at kid's books down the aisle) and JT mentions being a fan of VdGG when he was growing up in the mid 70's. I thought it mind-boggling that a member of Duran Duran would even know who VdGG were, much less be a fan...

Doesn't surprise me about Duran Duran, because of their age, and honestly they were pretty good musicans too.

Very cool 3 1/2 minute radio spot playing out east bigging up the show tonight. Includes a Hammill interview as well as some great VdGG music: http://soundcloud.com/whyy-public-me...raaf-generator

Funny blurb for the description of the show:

"This English, progressive rock band explores a complete range of phonaesthetics and time signatures throughout this eclectic show."
