Bluray: Crossroads: Eric Clapton's Guitar Festival 2013

I'm not a big fan of "Slow Hand" but when I purchased the latest Rush BluRay, this was sitting next to it in the "New Releases" section. I started skimming over the list of artists on this thing and I felt compelled to buy it. I haven't even unwrapped it yet but I'm wondering what PE's blues fans and guitar enthusiasts think of these sets (2 discs covering 2 different days).

Every now and then I need to scratch that blues itch...

Haven't heard it yet, but looks pretty good. I'd be curious to know what others think, too.

I haven't heard it yet either, but a regular customer of mine picked it up Tuesday at the store and came back tonight and bought the CD he was so impressed with it.

I watched the first half of disc one last night after the hockey game. This was shot on film originally and so there's some graininess , esp during wide angle shots of the stage. I was wondering if maybe I had a defective disc. If you bought this please chime in to tell me if you're experiencing the same thing.

The sound is great, the performances are solid, and there's a decent variety of music. It's not 100% blues as I originally expected, which is fine.

As great as Holdsworth is, is he really considered a good fit for a blues festival?

Ron, he was invited to be there by Eric personally and he could have at least let him have one song.

I think Holdsworth's rig shit itself.

"Kurt Rosenwinkel plays a couple of straight ahead jazz tunes, somehow managing to coax a 1970s, Roland Jazz Chorus, smooth-jazz sound out of a Fender Twin amplifier. (And when Allan Holdsworth joins Rosenwinkel we experience the concert’s only technical difficulty when it takes Holdsworth nearly ten minutes to coax a sound from of his bank of stomp boxes mounted chest height on a stand. Rosenwinkel raises both arms in mock triumph when a squawk finally emerges from Holdsworth’s signal chain. After one song, Holdsworth and stomp boxes exit stage right.)"

I didn't know this until now,so I deleted all my negativity on the matter. Also the video I saw has been pulled. Only a small 1:08 to be exact trace of the performance is there and it's from a cell phone a mile away. I bet Allan himself is the reason for that.

I love Tal, but after seeing Jeff with Rhonda Smith on the Brian Wilson/Jeff Beck concert there is no reason to ever compare them. Tal is great but Rhonda could move mountains the way she plays. I was stunned watching her solo.
