Well, you knew it was coming the toughest 70s challenge ever!

Again very simple, one year = one studio album. That's it!

    70 - Black Sabbath - Paranoid
    71 - Led Zeppelin - IV
    72 - Uriah Heep - Demons & Wizards
73 - Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
    74 - Queen - II
    75 - Neil Young - Zuma
    76 - Genesis - A Trick of the Tail
77 - Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood
78 - Kate Bush - The Kick Inside (NB: my all time top album, all genres)
    79 - Thin Lizzy - Black Rose

(And that list reveals that my prog listening is mostly in the fields of Classic Rock & New Wave)

71 through 75 are the toughest years in all of prog to choose the best of the year.

If I were to reply to this in an hour from now, it would look different, guaranteed.
And if there were a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Russell

This was released in 1993. Their only 70s release was the original Reflections on the Future from 1972, assuming you’ve actually heard it (few have, it’s one of the rarest releases on the United Artists label).
