The Knells w/ Rob Martino - Sat., Nov. 16th - Orion LiveMusic Showcases

Our next show is on Saturday night, November 16th, and features NYC-based The Knells, an 8-piece "post rock neo-psychedelic chamber prog band". Chapman Stick virtuoso Rob Martino will open the show, which starts at 8:00pm. You can see all the details here. I'[m pretty sure none (or very few) of you have ever heard of The Knells - think something between Dead Can Dance and Phideaux, with a bit more updated guitar sound. Three female vocalists, two guitars, bass, drums, and mallet percussion is what I'm told to expect. Their new album is set for release on November 19th, just three days after the show, but the band will have copies at the show - the first time the album will be available to the public! And those who have caught Rob Martino before can attest to the fact that this guys is nothing short of amazing! So ya, show up and catch some great modern prog!

"Death to false 'support the scene' prog!"

The Knells sound very cool, and Rob always puts on a good live show. Planning to be there, cheerfully receiving a swanky hand stamp, no doubt cheerfully applied at the door by the cheerful dude

First one conscious gets to post first!

    GREAT event.

    GREAT evening.

Very good turnout, for which I was very happy.

Rob played some nice, thoughtful works (some of which rocked pretty hard) and warmed us all up.

The Knells were playing their 1st live gig! The 3 singers out front were excellent, as were the musicians (2 guitars, bass, drums, mallet percussion/percussion) accompanying them.

Lots of instrumental bits and lots of multi-part singing.

    Great food/snax/cupcakes!

I got to have a good bit of chat with many pals here and not here: John Bat., Buster, George R., Debi, Helaine and even Mr. Potter!

You should have been there! (or) You were there and you had a great time!

Hope to see you on December 7 for Bushman's Revenge and Cortex, both from Norway!

Thanks Steve - it was a thrill to be a part of this! Just got home... loved the set by The Knells and I appreciated the kind response to my tunes. Was a great 24 hours in Baltimore!

Yep, another great evening at Chez Orion. You did great Rob, and the Knells were good solid fun (and.....fun to watch, for some bizarre reason). A delicous spread from Deb and friends.

Looking forward to 12/7 as well

Could this be a partial explanation?

Udi - I think it was streaming only for the week BEFORE release. It's released now and no longer streaming.

well, I cheerfully worked the door until the MUSIC started. Then John Battema pushed me out of the way and took over and then probably stole the money as well, to fund the next Ephemeral Sun album (see related thread)
