Does Supertramp sort of fit in this group?

So, yes... Stevie Nicks fits that description that was asked for in this thread.
Did you not read the whole opening post? Did it not ask to name groups with multiple singers that don't play instruments(or play instruments secondary to their vocal position)? Like I said, Fleetwood Mac doesn't count because Lindsay and Christine played instruments. Wouldn't Jefferson Airplane(Starship) count because Marty and Grace(or Grace and Micky) don't play instruments regularly?

No. Everyone in Supertramp is a primary instrumentalist in that band.

I actually had to read it once again to fully get it.

Yes, you would be correct. Still, many of us are definitely wrong in our replies here. The list is indeed very short.

Probably because self-contained bands and vocal groups are usually two different types of act. Bands with more than one stand-up singer are almost freakishly rare, while vocal groups very rarely count the backing instrumentalists as members. Indeed there was once a lawsuit concerning that very issue: whether the act called "Three Dog Night" included just the three singers who founded the band, or the four instrumentalists as well. Note that the musicians were the same guys for years - Jimmy Greenspoon, Mike Allsup, et al - and all seven of them appeared on at least some album covers. So, although much of the public may have seen "Three Dog Night" as just as the singers, the issue was not at all clear-cut.

In my mind Three Dog Night was always all 7 guys, and they count. But the Motown and Stax type vocal bands were self contained groups of singers and the music was provided basically by studio or pick-up bands for hire.

Because all their singers play instruments.
