    Triumvirat in Canada

I am Canadian, and my favorite band is Triumvirat, but did not know of them when they were a touring group. Does anybody recall concerts done by them in Canada in the mid seventies?
I have only seen reference to one, in Calgary with Supertramp in August, 1975. Do any PE members recall any others, like maybe in Toronto or Montreal, possibly? There was, of course, interest in the band at the time in Canada.

^To be more precise on that known concert, the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Calgary, Alberta, on Aug. 5th, 1975.

ELP and Triumvirat on the same bill- i wonder if people that weren't paying attention thought the same band came back out and played twice

    ELO, not ELP.

Obviously ELO got mad because Triumvirat were stealing their cool light bulb imagery, and thus booted them from the tour.

On the net, i read some reports from people who saw Triumvirat opening for ELO in the US leg of that tour, and T'rat evidently stealing the show. Wish i was there.

I'm from Ottawa, and saw many shows in the seventies at the Ottawa Civic Center. Triumvirat in Ottawa? I guess only in my dreams.

I'm 99% sure that they played The Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ in the Summer of 1975. Sadly I missed/skipped the show.

Yep, i checked on the net, July 5th, 1975- Triumvirat, Pavlov's Dog, and ELO-Convention Hall, Asbury, NJ.Someone on youtube mentioned that the band rented a house on the beach in Asbury Park, NJ, and they rehearsed for their tour with ELO at the Old Casino on the Asbury boardwalk, and he and some friends visited them a few times over a two week period. Evidently the band were pretty cool about that, except for Helmut.

I recall Triumvirate was also supposed to be touring with "I forgot who" back in the 70's in the USA and also cancelled......

I saw that tour. Triumvirat was supporting the Spartacus album and were fantastic. I like a lot of ELO but left after about 10-15 minutes. Too bombastic, not enough dynamics... I don't know exactly why, but I wasn't getting into them at all. Triumvirat was far better.

Hey, right on! If i could time trip, i'd go back and see that tour. Your recollections are precious to me.

A guy named John joined the Prog Archives forum recently, who was one of two lighting technicians on Triumvirat's 1975 tours in the US with ELO and Supertramp. The east coast leg of T'rat's touring was with ELO, and when they crossed the Mississippi, they started with Supertramp at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis. They ended the set each night frequently with an explosion and small fire on top of Jurgen's grand piano. He also confirmed that indeed Triumvirat and Supertramp played Calgary, Canada.

I'm from Gatineau (near Ottawa) and I remember that Triumvirat was the open band for BTO at Montréal. I was a huge fan of Triumvirate and I regret I did not go.

Do you happen to recall what year that was, or what time of year?

I believe the Montreal and Calgary shows were the only Canadian dates Triumvirat ever played.

I have a concert poster of Gentle Giant with Triumvirat and Pollen for Aug 18 / 75 in Trois Rivieres Quebec. Trimvirat did not perform that night.
    I remember tomorrow
