Usually no chance in hell to get tickets. This sells faster then NEARFest and Glastonbury combined.

Sula Bassana should be of some interest for proggies also.

Apart from the bands already mentioned, I only know Crowbar and Napalm Death. I'm getting old

Wow. Unfortunately too pricey even if it's within Europe. Magma and Opeth! Whew...

In my opinion yes. Wacken is limited to metal. My ears are not interested into metal that much, nowadays. Roadburn on the other hand started as a stoner/doom event and expanded to drone/psych/trip rock/neokraut/space rock and some death metal. With most bands on top of their game. Where else you can see music such diverse as Aqua Nebula Oscillator, Comus, Magma, Papir, Kandodo, Yob, Locrian, Loop, Opeth and Napalm Death?

Are these mostly metal bands? If so I don't see how Comus, Magma and Goblin fit in with a bunch of metal bands.

Tickets are still available for 4 day passes and if there was any way in heck I could swing this I'd be going. Here's the lineup with my n00b comments

    11Paranoias
    -(16)- Killer stoner doom
Anciients - This band is awesome Sludgey Prog, ala Mastadon. Get their debut released this year.
    Aqua Nebula Oscillator
    ASG
A Storm of Light - Awesome Atmospheric Black Metal. Intelligent music
    Bölzer
    Bong - um Stoner??
    Brutus
    Carlton Melton
Comus - THE Dark Folk inventors
    Conan
    Crowbar -
    E-Musikgruppe Lux Ohr
    Freedom Hawk
    Glitter Wizard
Goblin - No need to expand on Goblin. (I'm wearing my Goblin shirt right now!)
    Gozu
    Graves at Sea
    HARK
The Heads (ft.John Mcbain) – Artist In Residence
Horse Latitudes - Another in the Sludgey/Doom style.
    Hull
    Inter Arma
    Kandodo
KEN Mode - Experimental Metal corish. Interesting stuff.
    Locrian - Darkwave-y
    Loop
    Lord Dying
    Magma
    Mansion
    Momentum
    Morne
Napalm Death - Kings of Grind!
    Noothgrush
    Old Man Gloom
Opeth – Mikael Åkerfeldt Curator Roadburn Festival 2014
    Papir
    Regarde Les Hommes Tomber
    Scorpion Child
    Sourvein
    Sula Bassana (with band!)
    Triptykon - Trve Black Metal
    True Widow
    Tyranny
    The Cult of Dom Keller
    The Great Old Ones
    The Shrine
    The Old Wind
The Papermoon Sessions (Papir meets Electric Moon)
    The Vintage Caravan
    Whitehorse
    Windhand
Yob - Trve Atmospheric Black Metal

This is just an outstanding line-up with many bands. Expect multiple jaw-dropping moments.
Duncan's going to make a Horns Emoticon!!!

Metal as such ain't the right term for many of these bands. Most of them come from the doom/stoner scenes and have enrichened their sounds with acid jams, drones and 70s proto-prog or space rock. Heavy neopsychedelic I would rather label them, if you can get the reference.

There is also neokraut (Sula Bassana), modern space rock (Kandodo, Loop) and pure retro rock (Brutus, Glitter Wizard).
