    Cardiacs - Piffol!

Cardiacs series of Zappaesque instrumentals from their earliest days. If you're a Hot Rats or Burnt Weeny Sandwich fan then these are definitely for you.

Piffol FOUR Times - This is generally considered by Cardiacs fans as The Piffol track.

    Piffol SIX Times

And because I can't find it loaded up anywhere on its own here is Piffol ONE Time in the context of the entire Archives album.

Thanks -I love these tracks and they're the only Cardiacs tracks I can play happily at home without my wife objecting -she doesn't like the singing on Cardiacs songs but is quite happy with the instrumentals.

Whereas my missus hates all forms of twiddly diddly hi-fiddly piano/synth prog noddlings and flutes, she hates Tull for example. But she's generally okay with the punkier/heavier and more "pop" song based Cardiacs tracks.

You're welcome. I've never seen them altogether like this before. Obviously the 3 that are on Archives. But FIVE & SIX I only have on a really old Cardiacs Rarities cassette, purchased in the very early 90s from a bootlegger in Camden Town. Those were the days

Trivia, Fact fans: Tim pretty much plays all the instruments on the Piffol pieces.

Thanks Kavus, I didn't know that. I always thought Bill played a major part in making some of them.

I know there are a few people here who have recently become huge new fans, Chalkpie for example. So as a service to you, here is a list of the albums that unfortunately aren't available at the newly opened shop, so that you can look for them elsewhere. I of course have all of the following myself...sorry...don't mean to rub it in...much

    ALBUMS
ALPH CD019 Sampler - "A specially priced strictly limited edition sampler of blatant mayhem for all you devotees of the uncompromised and the unique. The Alphabet Business Concern spitefully presents an invitation into the cult phenomenon Cardiacs"

ALPH CD 020 Tim Smith's Extra Special OceanLandWorld

ALPH CD 030 Garage Concerts Vol.I

ALPH CD 031 Garage Concerts Vol.II

AME CD001 Spratleys Japs - Pony

AME CD002 Spratleys Japs - Hazel (4 track mini album)

AME CD004 Mr & Mrs Smith And Mr Drake

ORG228 "a remorseless and insoucient compendium of SONGS by CARDIACS and Affectionate Friends."

BR003 Leader of the Starry Skies - A Tribute to Tim Smith - Songbook 1 (This contains the amazing version of
    Foundling by Stars in Battledress)

BR003 A Loyal Companion - "A Loyal Companion is the very special limited edition loyal companion to The Leader of the Starry Skies A Tribute to Tim Smith Songbook 1" (This disc includes the painfully beautiful and fantastic version of Dirty Boy by Sterbus - I exchanged text with Sterbus after I'd heard it & told him I'd fallen in love with the voice of the girl who was singing, I think he told me it was his ex-girlfriend. )

    Cardiacs EPs
ALPH 015CD Day is Gone (4 tracks - 3 of them unavailable elsewhere) - Single from the HB & EB LP

ALPH 025CD Manhoo (3 tracks - 2 unavailable) - Single from Sing To God

ALPH 026CD Odd Even (3 tracks - 2 unavailable) - Single from Sing To God

ALPH CD 028 Signs (3 tracks - 2 unavailable) - Single from Guns

Organ011CD Bellyeye (3 tracks from Sing To God)

Org056CD Cardiacs meet Camp Blackfoot (4 Cardiacs tracks, 3 from CB)

BTW, I just had a look at my old Cardiacs Rarities cassette and had a listen through to it and the CD I made of it and Piffol Six Times is listed as "Bits & Bobs".

I was about to ask if there was a Piffol Two Times but I see its been answered on another forum and the answer seems to be no, but possibly T.V.T.V from Archives is that track under another name

    Hello Lads......Cardiacs!

I've been outta this part of the universe for a while, somehown went into a Second Vienesse School binge and now its Sibelius, but great fuckin' post! Yes, these pieces are a trip and mindblowing. It's a little "Conceptual Continuity" in the land of Mr. Smith, right? My ugly ass wore my new Cardiacs T-shirt to my first rock/prog gig in a pretty long time. Still the best band.

No, TVTV is a well established track. BUT I know on Youtube and over on The Mares Nest there has been talk about the naming of that piece of music as Piffol Six Times by one of the small gorup of Cardiacs exeprts. But like I said, it's called Bits & Bobs on my cassette, and sounds old enough to just as easily be the elusive Piffol Two Times, if A)that ever existed and B) we accept that Bits & Bobs isn't the proper title.

Thanks for that -its by far the best interview I've seen with Tim. Sometimes he appears to be inhabiting such a different world its a job to know if he's odd all the time or whether he's putting it on for the interview. Here he comes across as a believable human being.
