there was a guy on liquid metal talking about how this came about. the cover was going to actually be called Summer Girl and was supposed to be rather x rated. they sent a copy to seals and crofts for their blessings, which they did not get in no uncertain terms. since one can do a straight up cover with no problems and altering the song causes tons of problems without permission (I am not sure how that works and am only going based on this interview), the song was rerecorded with the seals and crofts lyrics, although some "summer girl" recording had been distributed and pop up now and then.Originally Posted by Adrian

What's weird about 'em, Geez? They seem pretty straight-ahead to me.
Weird? No. Unusual? Definitely, simply because of Reid's uncanny phrasing and beyond unique (imo) voice and range.
May not have made the best career decisions, however.
