    David Jackson (VdGG) w/my band

In 2002, my Chicago blues band Howard & The White Boys (Howard's black, I'm one of the three white boys... seemed like a cool name when we started up in our 20s over two decades ago...) played at Riffs Bar in Swindon, England. Jaxon showed up with his saxes and jammed with us. Judge Smith was also in the audience. So was Phil Smart. I'd invited all three. This was the first time I met Phil; we started up on the VdGG book project a few years later. Note the nifty VdGG/Jaxon montage at the beginning of the video ;-)

    I'm the drummer.

We have played at the Spirit of 66 in the past (twice!) during our European tours. But not in years. I was really looking forward to seeing VdGG at the Spirit of '66 in 2007, but unfortunately tickets sold out so fast that they had to move it to a much bigger venue (but it was still a great concert... I just wanted to see them in a venue where I'd played in the past... which did eventually happen when Hammill ['08] and VdGG ['09] played the Abbey Pub here in Chicago).
