    RIP Tom Clancy

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/02/us/tom...html?hpt=hp_t1

The OST for The Hunt for Red October was composed by Basil Poledouris - I mention this only to make the thread music related...

Haven't read a lot of his books - The Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, and another 1 or 2 - but no doubt that the guy was a talented writer.

Seems I read one of his books at down times at work, and it was interesting, but I'm forgetting which one it was--a sequel to something. Pretty good. RIP Tom.

I read the first four books or so. Not much of a writer but a damn good storyteller (and yeah, there is a difference). RIP.

Give me a ping for Tom Clancy, Vasily. One ping only please

Welcome to the new world, Captain Clancy.
I think the subtext is rapidly becoming text.

The first few were great, but then the end of the cold war blew him out of the water. He was much better writting about hardware, not so good with people.
