My review of The Impossible Gentlemen's Internationally Recognisable Aliens, today at All About Jazz.

This is this multinational/transatlantic quartet's second recording and, based on pianist Gwilim Simock, the difference between the two is that the first record was written for what they'd hoped the group would be; this one, written for what they know it can be. With fellow British guitarist Mike Walker, and Americans Steve Swallow (bass) and Adam Nussbaum (drums), it's also a multi-generational effort that fires on all cylinders, and is absolutely one of the best jazz records of 2013.
