    Songs that had different titles when they started?

    Deep Purple's 'Speed King' was introduced as 'Kneel & Pray' when played live before 'In Rock' was released.
    Sex Pistol's 'God Save the Queen' was called "No Future'. Malcolm McClaren changed the title as '77 was the Queen's jubilee.
    America's 'Horse with No Name' was called 'The Desert Song".

    I'm gonna forget a bunch, but I can think of a few Floyd ones off the top of my head:

    Echoes was originally called The Return Of The Son Of Nothing (I think, something like that)
    The Great Gig In The Sky -> Religion
    Dogs -> You Gotta Be Crazy
    Sheep -> Raving & Drooling
    The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off

    the opening section of "Little House I Used to Live In" by the Mothers Of Invention used to go by the name of "The Return Of The Hunchback Duke" when they were doing as a concert piece.

    Genesis - "It's Yourself" was originally "Beloved Summer". "Can-Utility" was introduced by PG as "Bye Bye Johnny". There are many others in their catalogue but they're really just 'working titles'. They weren't actually called something different until they were recorded and released properly. ("Squonk" was "Indians", "Silver Rainbow" was "Adam Ant", "No Son Of Mine" was "Elephant", etc...)

    Kiss: Let Me Go Rock N Roll was apparently originally called simply Let Me Go. Love Theme From Kiss was originally part of a longer composition called Acrobat (their producer said that "love themes" were popular in Europe, so insisted on the new title, which Gene says he still hates)

    Pink Floyd: Atom Heart Mother was originally known as The Amazing Pudding (apparently only acquiring the latter title the day it was performed on BBC Radio).

    didn't IQ's Stronger than Friction have a different name or at least different lyrics when they played it on the live DVD

    why yes Steve it did..
    Crashed and Burned was the title of the song on the DVD and not only were the lyrics different but the arrangement was as well.

    I remember hearing Black Sabbath doing "Killing Yourself To Live" with completely different lyrics, but I don't remember the title.

    I have a 3-LP Sabbath bootleg called: Love in Chicago (or something close to that) where "Killing Yourself to Live" is entitled: "Killing Yourself to Die"

    (Most likely a typo (or mis-remembering) on the part of the bootlegger than an actual Sabbath-endorsed different title)
