I agree. Most of my suggestions probably wouldn't be getting a lot of response but I would lean towards Krautrock, Zeuhl, Jazz / Fusion and Canterbury. Nice list above from Ian as well.

Since this is my first time ever listening to it, may I suggest Exit... Stage Left by Rush? I would love to know what others think of this release. Or, how about the SOC CD? A Scarcity Of Miracles(a recent purchase of mine) sound good as well. Or, how about Systematic Chaos?

Would you react if there was a Black Sabbath album featured? A Tony Banks solo album? GTR? Or FUCKING Asia? Or perhaps some Steve Howe acoustic set donning Wes Montgomery with added pan flutes?

Not sure if this was in jest or not, but I want to chime in that I find great value in rotating the Featured Album Administrator role as each Sean, Cozy and Duncan, along with Floyd when he was doing it, all have different tastes. Not saying that any of them don't venture from their comfort zone, but there is a different flavor for each.
Duncan's going to make a Horns Emoticon!!!

I'd be interested in some from the post-rock genre, if that fits within the rules. I don't know a lot about it and would like to learn more.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

I think that the Featured Albums threads has improved little bit recently. I see more of "less known " albums instead of " classic albums " and that is IMHO very positive.

What I imply is to give more opportunity for people to discover hidden gems whether old or new.

I like some of the suggestions. I would also add:

    McCoy Tyner - Sahara
Freddie Hubbard / Ilhan Mimaroglu - Sing Me a Song of Songmy
Gerard Manset - La Mort d'Orion
MCH Band - Es Reut Mich F

FYI, two of the most essential post-rock recordings of all time have already been suggested: Tortoise's Millions Now Living Will Never Die and Gastr del Sol's Camofleur - both of which feature among my fave 30-or-so progressive titles from the past 20 years. I'm sure others might suggest titles by Stereolab, GY!BE, Don Caballero and such as well.

    YES! More post rock!

Personally, I'm more of a fan or Tortoise's S/T album, and Gastr Del Sol's "Crookt, Crackt, or Fly" and the EP "Mirror Repair." Their other EP "Harp Factory at Lake Street" is also genius. Slint's "Spiderland" is one of the cornerstones of this whole genre. Shipping News' "Very Soon and In Pleasant Company" is one of my favorite albums of all time. The For Carnation's S/T album is also a masterpiece.

Honestly, not a fan at all of God Speed you Black Emperor.

    - Matt

It's a damn shame to play something as gorgeous as this on PC speakers, but here you go anyways - though DO remember that this album is ridiculously varied and that there's basically not much "representative" about the odd post-rock track in the first place:

Here's another track from Camoufleur, perhaps the most ravishingly beautiful thing on the cd(YMMV).

I'd love to see albums that are OOP that I'll probably otherwise never get to hear any tracks from such as the Tipographica albums. I have the brilliant God Says I Can't Dance (the best Zappa album Frank didn't make) but I haven't heard/can't find any others.
