From the 70's? One possible answer:

Queen: A Day At The Races
    Hawkwind: Space Ritual
    Pink Floyd: Animals
    Kiss: Dressed To Kill
    Uriah Heep: Live
Allman Brothers Band: Live At Fillmore East
    Grateful Dead: American Beauty
Grateful Dead: Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack
    The Who: By Numbers
    Magma: Köhntarkösz
    Miles Davis: Pangaea

Those were the first 12 that came to mind. Tomorrow, it'll probably be a different 12.

It's the five CD soundtrack to the Grateful Dead Movie, which was filmed in October 1974 at the Winterland in San Francisco. It is in my opinion the best concert film ever made. Although the soundtrack release didn't appear until the 21st century, I reckon that the fact that it was recorded in the 70's, and the original movie was released in 1977, qualifies it as a "70's era album".

That's why I won't bother.... don't want to waste time and energy in eliminating great albums

Anyway in rock, my 70's list woulmd probably be my all-time listy

in Jazz & JR/F, my 70's list would probably have to make space for two or three 60's albums, but that would be close to my all-time liust as well
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

Banquo--thanks for the link to the GD movie. I went over to NF to see if they handled the movie, which they may have at one time, but I see it's a "Saved" movie now, and doesn't look like they plan on buying another copy.
