    RIP Cedar Walton.

Sad to hear of the death of jazz pianist Cedar Walton.I first heard Walton on Art Blakey's Free For All.I was fortunate enough to see /hear Cedar Walton several times over the years in NYC.Always a pleasure to hear his lyrical,in the pocket take on the post bop repertoire.

I saw him with George Coleman( i forget where), in a trio at the Village Vanguard with David Williams and Billy Higgins, and again at the Vanguard in the Milt Jackson-Ray Brown Quartet with Mickey Roker(drums).

WKCR-FM, 89.9 on the dial in NYC is playing the music of Cedar Walton all day today(Monday).I include a link to WKCR's streaming site.

    RIP Cedar Walton.

Wow, he's a big one. Although I must say I'm surprised, didn't know he was still with us.

    RIP Mr. Walton.

Kay and I saw him about 4 years ago on tour with Jacky Terrasson and Hiromi solo! What a night of music that was.
